Don’t wanna be too specific here, but didn’t Kelly engage in personal conduct that was detrimental to the team soon after he arrived? Seems like Woodward ignored it, but it did happen.

If Woodward and LSU admin were aware of such conduct at the time and didn't take action then, it makes it pretty hard to conveniently use that as "cause" almost 4 years later when he's not living up to on-field expectations

Yes, BK’s lawyers cracked my real identity, contacted me last night and filled my Venmo account.

This is what Kelly’s team wants you to believe. And they are succeeding. LSU bad, Kelly good. Poor Kelly is being victimized by LSU. LSU will end up having to pay his full amount in a lump sum because of this now. That’s what they’re trying to do despite Kelly lying his arse off about coaching again and settling for a lower buyout.

I keep seeing people post this, but I have no idea why. There’s not a single report saying Kelly is pushing for the full buyout as a lump sum.

He wants LSU to acknowledge he was fired without cause, and that his full buyout is owed per the terms of the contract (e.g. over 6 years). That’s the purpose of the lawsuit, and it is a response to LSU claiming they can still fire him with cause.

The fact that he rejected $30 million over two payments doesn’t mean he expects $54 million in a single payment.

Why do that, when I can get the $54 million that I’m owed and just never work again

If he wants the $54M then he's got a mitigation clause with his LSU contract that says he has to try to get another job and that the $54M buyout is reduced by whatever salary his new job is paying.

If he takes the $30M now and LSU waives the mitigation clause, then he gets $30M plus whatever salary he makes if he wants to keep coaching.

He'd come out ahead if he took the $30M lump sum offer and landed another job after this season that paid more than $4M a year.

It only makes sense to decline the $30M offer if he has no intention to continue coaching elsewhere and plans to do just enough to satisfy the "looking for another job" requirement of the mitigation clause without actually getting hired anywhere.

The only people on here supporting how this happened are the ones who have the taste of Landry in their mouth.

85 percent of lsu fans are glad Bzk is gone.

95 percent of fans want Huey P Landry gone as well.

Absolutely no one is saying that.

People are saying lsu should honor their contracts.

This is likely

Those mitigation clauses are hard to enforce.

They should have to pay the full amount. They made the contract. LSU signed the contract that Brian Kelly gets the buyout. There is no argument. LSU owes him the money

Exactly, Todd and Holden need to dig a little deeper than Woody led them to believe but then we can move forward.

Because in order to keep receiving the installments of the 54 million youre obligated to find other employment

Everything is fine. It’s just stirrers paid by Brian Kelly that are making things up.

No reasonable person actually believes this.

LSU fricked up and now has a massive PR nightmare going on while trying to fill possibly the most important job at the university.

I’m glad BK is no longer the coach but he didn’t force Woodward to offer that contract and he didn’t force the BOS/president to approve it.

Doesn’t matter if he is a pice of shite a-hole. Pay him what was obligated and put this garbage in the rearview mirror

Do people realize Donors have to pay him and they are running the show if they want it isn’t LSU decision. That’s why Woodward shouldn’t have fired him before lining up the money

Ok so let me get this straight. You think you can fire a coach for performance when you've signed the guy to a $53M buyout? But then later say he wasn't actually fired yet? And that they were now firing him for some morality clause.

You think that this looks appealing to other coaches looking for somewhere else to coach?
