TN has the toughest road. They have to beat AL, GA and then probably AL again to get to the playoffs and then probably AL or GA again and maybe BOTH to win NC.

Insane

I wish we would get the super conferences done and over with. That way we could have the play offs consisting of conference Champs only

In that scenario, I don't think you could keep an SEC champ out of the playoffs.

Would LSU be the only school to have multiple 2-loss national championships?

I’m sure Bama has claimed multiple championships in 2-loss seasons

who knows what will happen but there are definitely several 'playoff firsts' events still playing out right now:

- LSU 2-loss team in playoffs/national champion. I realize this is far fetched but its possible

- TN, AL and GA all in the playoffs with one loss each.

- TN having to beat AL, GA, AL again..then GA again in playoffs...then AL again in the NC game (or vice versa) Poor TN

Has any team ever had to beat the #1 team 4 out of 5 times to win the NC?

I seriously don’t understand why there are 49 downvotes to 3 upvotes.

The Optimism Police is strong and watchful.

People, IF WE UPSET ALABAMA, WE WILL BE THE FAVORITES TO MAKE IT TO ATLANTA!

Once there, we have an opportunity to win the sec championship, because we will be playing in the sec championship game.

Let’s. Ride.

its like this board isn't to discuss all things related to LSU football.

its not like we can speculate on this if we get beaten by AL right? Not exactly a topic for discussion at that point.

i dont get the downvotes either but then again, people dont like me.

I'm just asking the question because right now there are some very interesting scenarios unfolding.

What happens if AL wins out then beats an unbeaten UT in the SEC game?

TN and AL gonna have to play each other a 3rd time in the playoffs?

You could have a 1loss GA, 1loss TN and a 1loss AL in the playoffs.

A few heads could explode
I hear you, but this is wasted energy. Wait until the final week or two and then these scenarios are much more clear and it becomes more legitimate to play the what-if game.

Way, way too early to devote any time or energy to this now.

probably would be in. looking at the standings, there will be a max of 3 undefeated teams left.

you could have the winner of Ohio St/Michigan, TCU, Clemson

if tennessee loses to UGA next week, and then LSU beats UGA, i could see Tenn going to playoff over LSU, being a 1 loss team and had already beaten LSU pretty substantially.

That scenario has the SEC possibly getting 3 teams in the playoff. If Tennessee wins out, Alabama would have at least 2 losses and no SEC championship....no shot at playoffs. UGA as a 1 loss non-champion would still need help to get in

If TN is undefeated #1 in the SECCG, they'd have 2 wins over #1 teams and likely would still go to the playoff unless LSU won by double digits, in which case LSU probably goes.

I'm assuming TN beats GA but loses to AL in SEC-C.

Then you would have 3 one loss SEC teams with TN having the best resume but Bama with the SEC-C win and GA probably sitting in the top 5 still with only one loss.

This would be fun but I'd rather see LSU win out and face TN or GA in the SEC game.

TN in the rematch or GA

Just playing along with the hypothetical. I think our best shot would be beating TN in a rematch in which case we would be in. If we beat Georgia for the SECCG I think there is a better than good chance that the SEC gets left out. You would have a 2 loss SEC champ with 1 unavenged drumming by Tennessee who had beaten Bama and lost to Georgia so there would be a look that this was just a down year for the SEC.

The CFP in that scenario could look like:

Ohio State
Clemson
TCU or Oklahoma State
Oregon or USC

For us to play GA in the SEC-C they would have to be undefeated right? Since they're currently ranked #1 you think a single loss would put them out of the playoffs picture?

You would have
GA - 1 loss (SEC-C)
TN - 1 loss (GA)
AL - 2 losses
LSU - 2 losses (but won SEC-C)

I admit that would be a bit of a nasty scenario for the SEC in general.

You would have quite a few SEC teams "in the picture" but depending on what happens with the other conferences I can see a few scenarios where the committee doesn't put one of them in mostly because the Champion is a 2 loss team with a really bad unavenged loss at home to TN. If it's a win over TN for LSU in the SECCG LSU gets in without a doubt though. This is all conjecture of course and if another conference champion ends up with 2 losses the whole scenario changes.

There's nothing wrong with speculating as a fan as a means to just discuss stuff -- because that's what fans do -- talk.

The players absolutely need to take games one at a time -- sometimes these fans yelling at people to control the narrative on this board act like they're indirectly or directly talking to the players on the field.

To answer your question -- I'd imagine a 2-loss LSU team gets in but it depends on how the other divisions finish up --
