So how many people would blame the coach if that was an LSU runner?

Acted like what?

He got him back and you could see him say "Pigget, what are you doing?? Pigget, what are you doing??"

Unless I'm missing the sarcasm here, but I doubt it.

3rd base coach should have been yelling back and telling the runner to tag. Still the base runners fault but the coach could have helped.

yeah, it was way too late.

the correct coaching protocol in that position is to yell to tag up immediately when you see the ball hit in the air. You dont let the player drift to and from the base.

If its a HR, you score anyway.

It was horrible coaching. No sarcasm whatsoever

Then the coach might as well sit in the dugout.

It's the coaches job to make sure. That ball was in the air long enough for the coach to get his point across.

When the ball goes up in the air u scream at them to get back and tag. That part was done. Coach then changed his focus to the right fielder and totally didnt expect the guy to wander off the bag. Yes the coach should still be screaming get back but that is 8 year old stuff.

You people blaming the coach are hilarious. Never holding a player responsible for anything.

Such horrible coaching. I would indeed be imploding if one of our own let that happen.

I blame them both.

The coach is there to make sure he does the right thing, especially on a high, deep, fly ball like this.

You don't stare at the ball and not say anything. You make sure he knows to tag, regardless if he really knows or not.

Coach got caught watching the ball, as did Pigget, as did Jim Hawthorne (he basically called it a HR)

Coach shoulda been all over DPs shite as soon as he left the bag yelling "TAG TAG TAG!!!"

Anyone who thinks that was the coach's fault has never played an inning of baseball ..
