So are scrimmage stats real or fake?

Seriously, though. When the stats are good, it’s always, “They’re padded and it never translates to real play.” Which has been true. But when the stats are not good, suddenly they’re gospel?

Considering our top five D, dropped passes, and situational play, I feel the low completion percentage is reflective of something other than real-game competence, namely those first things.

NB4 people are just gonna melt—I know, I know.

Nah! we are just setting a trap for Miami. Bill J and Justice are are just accomplices to help spread the bait.

Whether those stats are real or fake, who knows, but for sure they are incomplete. There's not enough info to know if it was the freshmen WRs or even RBs doing the drops, or if they were badly thrown balls, or just what happened.

Giles didn't scrimmage today and in one report, I saw that Jefferson only had one reception, so who knows what it all means.

Heck, maybe the coaches want to make Miami over confident.

Who cares? Good or bad, scrimmage stats are meaningless

If it were me, I wouldn’t even report them. It’s dumb. You’re just asking for bad press. There are a lot of head coaches that don’t give scrimmage stats.

Could Coach O be playing the long con here and throwing off the Miami coaching staff by giving underwhelming numbers?

Sarcasm of course

Is this where everyone comes to pretend everything is perfectly fine? Stats mattered with LN, they should matter now. Let's stop with the excuses and hope the QB's we chose can get more consistent.

Where can stats be seen? I haven’t seen them all yet.

Why would a coach say his player or players did worse than they actually did?

Just throwing out the corn. Their defense isn’t going to know what hit them on Sept. 2.

Well they happened. Whether you want to use them as an example of how we’re improving or not, is up to you.

We have the best OC in the country and an up and coming second chance Head Coach.
Defense is #1 in the country (of zero games so far) but Vs Our offense.

What could go wrong?

It’s just a scrimmage 14 days before we play the #8 team.
Don’t take it too serious.

If you want to operate in secrecy you don't release the data. The fact the stats are reported implies there is a target audience. Recruits? Media? Fans?

A good staff will wisely constrain the parameters of the practice such that outcome evident from the practice both align with whatever narrative they're selling and not giving away tendencies and the secret playbook to opposing teams' analysts.

I don't think they care if it is bad press. The only people that take those stats seriously are the miserable trolls. They were going to bitch one way or another. Most people view them as meaningless stats, whether great or bad.

I heard the OL was improved from last weeks scrimmage. Still not where you’d like them to be but a marked improvement. Burrow was significantly more sharp than Brennan, but each battled drops from their receivers.

I expect there is some misinformation so Miami can’t get a good read on what to expect from our offense. I do think our defense is tough though.
