Tillman Fertitta is their big booster. He is the sole owner of Landry's Inc., one of the biggest restaurant companies in the US. His networth is near $3 billion.

If any school in Texas wants to pay Herman $10 million per year, so be it. But I doubt that actually happens, and I doubt there's any chance he stays at a non-Power 5 Houston.

you people clearly know nothing about Tillman Fertita. first of all, his money isnt from oil. secondly, he can AND WILL match or top any offer from LSU all by himself.

I never realized the two of you were so close.

You guys don't realize these oil guys come from different schools and just happen to live and work in houston.

LSU is one of those schools.

He is the director of the board of regents at UH and is a major sports fan he was one of the original investors in the Texans but was forced to sell due to casinos so uh is his de facto sports franchise. The one thing as we know coaches are extremely competitive and UH at this time is a steppingstone job it's not in the big 12

Exactly

UH stadium has a CAPACITY of 40k. The facilities are below LSU's

It is silliness to act like LSU can't compete for a coach.

The recruiting budget, resources, prestige, assistant coach budget....all are much higher at LSU.

It is a dumb position to hold. Now, it is not a lock LSU gets him from there. But, I'd rather bet on LSU in this battle.

in your estimation, why hasn't he bought their coaches in the past?

You're wrong. I've heard that Fertitta will personally guarantee him 15 million a year plus one lunch at Morton's (alcohol, appetizers and dessert excluded) a month.

Being how these coaches have caps LSU can hang with anyone, it will come down to the best fit for the coach and if he likes the place and chance to succeed. I would say LSU has a great chance. Loaded with talent have all the assistants he would want to keep, with big name assistants. Name brand that is on the cusp and ready to win. It's perfect imo

So he can spend the next 10 years to maybe build Houston into an LSU. Or go to LSU and the SEC to compete for NC from year one?!

Tilman Fertitta is the big booster. Worth 2.3 billion. Just gave 20mil for their basketball complex.

He'd put his money up for sure.

Wtf? No way this is true..... right?

Doesn't matter. Herman has no special ties to LSU, he stands to make a shite load of money at UH if he continues on this track, and the UH faithful are going to do everything in their power to keep him from leaving.

LSU isn't touching Herman until after the UH season is over, at best.

Oh, and I love the idea that billionaire business people are just going to suddenly pay WAY above market rates just because it is "fun 12 weekends a year"

I have no doubt they will pay well. But, they aren't just saying "to spite you, I'll pay more than I have to to get a successful coach here"

Silliness. There have been a number of successful coaches at UH. ALL have left so far for better jobs.

The only real job for the next HC is to change the culture here and have this offense perform to its maximum capability. Keep who he thinks deserves their jobs and bring in who he thinks should replace the others.

Relax, it's not always about money.

Sorry, but it's always about the money. Always.
