Jim Bernhard needs to stop buying up companies and spend that Shaw cash on Herman.

It isn't about a bidding war .

Houston can't offer what LSU can offer as far as football is concerned.

If Herman is a competitor, he will want the challenge of the SEC.

It's all up to how the guy is wired. I think he is ready for this job or the Texas job.

Houston really doesn't matter imo. This will come down to Texas, LSU and maybe USCw if they can their first year guy.

It's not just about money. LSU football brand > Houston football brand.

Shouldn't be just about money. LSU is a far better program. Herman should come here for less actually, but he'll get a raise if he comes. He should WANT this job.

Depends. He's worth more to Houston than to us, probably.

But that Houston billionaire isn't going to pay him 8 million a year just because he can.

LSU has oil money.

Houston has oil money, but those guys come from schools all around the country with football blood as thick as family blood.

Houston may have some money but I bet Herman would like to be able to realistically compete for a NC on a regular basis. That shite ain't possible at Houston.

Agree. UH is not hurting for resources. A big advantage LSU has at the moment is uncertainty surrounding UH's Big 12 bid.

They may very well have "one guy" that is richer than the LSU guys, but combined? Not even fricking close.

That doesn't really matter. Herman has a max price that is way lower than what a bunch of multi-millionaires are capable of paying.

If I'm Herman, and Houston tops a 6.5 mil offer with a 7 mil one, I'm asking where the money was last year when it was just a 3 mil offer.

Tillman fertitta (sp?) is not in oil and gas. Restaurants, hotels and casinos. He is very successfull in many areas.

it may not be a money issue if the coach wants to compete against the best in the best conference.

From Wikipedia

Tilman Joseph Fertitta (born June 25, 1957) is an American businessman, entrepreneur, television personality and the chairman, CEO and sole owner of Landry's, Inc., one of the nation’s largest restaurant corporations.[2][3] In 2013, his net worth was estimated at $2.4 billion, placing him at No. 235 on the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans;[4] Forbes calls him the “World’s Richest Restaurateur”.[5] Fertitta is also chairman of the Board of Regents of the University of Houston System.[6] After landing a reality tv show on CNBC, Fertitta became the star of Billion Dollar Buyer.

you people clearly know nothing about Tillman Fertita. first of all, his money isnt from oil. secondly, he can AND WILL match or top any offer from LSU all by himself.

this doesnt mean Herman will stay at Houston, but he wont be leaving for money.
