Just LOOKING @ Tiger Stadium, from above in photos, or even from a plane.....

Is Intimidating & Surreal!

It genuinely looks like the Roman Coliseum. And has a Live - 865lbs - Bengal Tiger Roaming just outside!

But it's the 102,000+ Tiger Fans crammed inside an entirely enclosed concrete bowl at sea level underneath heavy, dense humidity that causes/creates a veritable SOUND BOMB that is not only "audibly" Heard as extremely/intensely Loud; but also PHYSICALLY Felt. It's not an "unnatural" sound - like from a machine or jet engine. It is a natural Human noise that carries intense emotion, passion, energy. IT IS REAL....IT IS LIVE/ALIVE....AND IT IS SEEN, WITNESSED, FELT & INESCAPABLE!

It is hard to explain, describe, believe to anyone who has not experienced it in person. BUT IT IS REAL (Reality) & UNDENIABLE!

To those who do not, can not understand or believe that Tiger Stadium (Death & also Deaf Valley) & LSU Fans is the #1 LOUDEST, MOST DIFFICULT & INTIMIDATING STADIUM & ENVIRONMENT IN ANY/ALL SPORTS HISTORY....ANYWHERE ~ EVER.......

You can clear up other fan's confusion or disbelief very simply, easily by directing them to a very well known & undisputed Historical/Geologic Fact!
A Scientifically Documented & Recorded "Event"!

The incredible Noise/Energy/Frequency/Vibrations made by LSU FANS in TIGER STADIUM have caused ** E A R T H Q U A K E S ** !!

I'm not quite that old, but I lived in the stadium dorm longer than anybody, hence my screen name.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE, GRASSHOPPER!

(I used to be “StadiumDormRat72” until “technical difficulties” forced me to pick a new screen name)

The original Deaf Valley actually sounds more intimidating to me for some reason

That's about when I first heard it at an LSU basketball game.
Black students at LSU, who sat up at the very top rows of the Assembly Center, used to start the "Who Dat" thing during an LSU Basketball game. (Late 70's/Early 80's)

I remember that like it was yesterday. (I remember everything in detail because my brain is not alcohol damaged)

I grew up in SC and have lived a total of 41 years in SC and have never heard of that until right now.

Had to look it up and found it is an unincorporated community in Chester, near where I grew up. Never heard of it. Cool fact, but it doesn't add to the confusion at all.

We were Deaf Valley first, morphed into Death Valley between the 60’s-70’s

Part of the confusion?

Can it really be considered a town if there isn’t even a stop light in it?

Clemson Death Valley = Bump in the Road, not hard to win there!

LSU Death Valley = Where opponents dreams come to "Die" and you are lucky to leave healthy, much less an Arse Beating!

All I will say is if you were to pol college football fans across the country and ask them where is Death Valley I bet that 70% or more will say LSU. Few if any outside the ACC will say Clemson. Also Just look at College Gameday. The show literally opens with LSU / Death Valley. When they get to Clemson their is zero mention of Death Valley.

If I’m not mistaken, Bob Broadhead in the 70’s changed it from “Deaf” to “Death”

Ask any Seattle Seahawks fan if it bothers them that Texas A&M had the '12th Man' before them. My guess is they don't give a damn.

I remember it called both Deaf Valley and Death Valley in the early 80s. The Assembly Center was also called The Deaf Dome in the early Dale Brown years.

You are vastly mistaken.

My first game at LSU is 1964 and it was called Death Valley.

In 1990 I started doing research on the Clemson/LSU debate on who had it first.

The first I can find it called Death Valley is in 1960.

The first football guide with it called Death Valley is 1962.

PMAC is called the deaf Dome by 1980.

I told Jimmy Hyams in 1983 that the fans would mix the names up in the future. Jimmy was ast. SID at the time.

By 1984 yes the LSU fans mixed the names up and 1984 is the first time you will see deaf valley and Tiger Stadium in writing. This was while doing research on the Death Valley debate.

The sign in Tiger Stadium when first put up said Death Valley, and there are photographs of it online, in LSU football books, LSU football media guides and gamedays. Later it is changed to Welcome Death Valley.
