If that's the plan the be ready to nit see Skenes.

Sorry but after yesterday, Hurd will get rocked.

You start Skenes, send the message we ain't playing. Let him shut them down for however long you let him go, hope the bats get some runs then do what you have to from there

There's no way Skip cuts Jay off at the knees, so this is probably the plan.

Can you imagine the Gaytors being behind by a run or two in the middle of the game and seeing Skenes warming in the bullpen. Talk about hearing footsteps

Skip pitched Mike Sirotka in 3 of the 4 games we played over 8 days in the 1993 CWS. He'd start Skenes tonight and not blink. Started game 1, then started game 3 on 4 days' rest and then pitched again in relief in game 4 on 1 days' rest.

In total, Sirotka pitched 37.1 innings in the 1993 NCAAT from 05/27-06/11. That's over 4 full complete games worth of work in a matter of 2 weeks

And as I recall, Mr. Sirotka went on to have a relatively decent MLB career.

Especially if the score is like 10-3 Florida. I don’t think they will be too scared by then. If we don’t hit we will not even see Skenes at all.

Just depends on your perspective of when the most important part of the game is. I tend to think that will be somewhere in innings 4 onward. That’s why I agree with Skip. Some may rightly that it’s the beginning of the game to halt Florida momentum.

Not saying Hurd will be but we were behind by the 4th inning yesterday.

Ive been reading the rant today and the obvious reason that happened is because Ackenhausen is not a traditional starter so his routine was messed up.

Skenes can't handle a different role so how could we expect Ackenhausen to?

What skip says now and what skip would have done as a coach are 2 completely different things. If you are only looking at 50-60 pitches from Skenes then it's about 4-5 innings. Since he's never come out of the bullpen it would make sense to start Skenes and then bring in Hurd. I'm ok either way but I believe based on Skip's past he would have started Skenes. This is a 20+ year old on 3, almost 4 days rest since the game is at 6:00.

It's the top of the 7th and Florida leads LSU 8-3.

Whoops.....

Major fail.

If you plan to get any innings out of Skenes tonight you start him. Keeps his routine and gives you the best chance to set the tone.
