RIP Skip 'The GOAT'
Went to his baseball camp at LSU when I was ~10 years old in the mid 80's. Got a picture with him.

Never met him but he was one of a kind. He loved baseball and LSU.
LSU Has Lost a Legend. His family has lost a Hero.

Corbin, Stephenson, Polk, Gaurrido, Casey, Tanner, all great coaches but there is only one Bertman. The greatest to ever do it. RIP coach

Ran across this when searching the internet...
It is a Facebook post from an account Ghosts of the Orange Bowl but is open for reading (I don't have a Facebook account).
The posts give you an idea of how many lives Coach Bertman impacted. And there are some great old-time pictures.
Also discovered that the actor Mickey Rourke played baseball at Miami Beach HS for Skip (he's in one of the pics posted).

This is one of the saddest days in LSU sports history. Skip changed the sport that we all fell in love with. He will always be remembered as the greatest to ever do it and we all got to witness it firsthand. We are lucky and will forever be grateful. RIP Skip

I was lucky enough to get to sit with a friend in Skips private suite in tiger stadium for the UNT game years ago when Les was the coach. I sat right behind him while he watched the entire game and it was interesting getting to see his reactions to the game unfolding. At one point he was leaning back in his chair and had his fingers interlocked behind his head and I quickly snapped a pic of skip with his hands behind his head with all his championship rings on with the view of tiger stadium from his suite on a Saturday night. It’s one of the coolest pics I’ve ever taken and I have no idea where it is. RIP Legend

And he pulled off the unthinkable at the time: showing AD's that college baseball could turn a profit.
