Every Skenes appearance this year has been a starting role. CJJ isn’t going to change that now. Limited Pitch count or not, skenes is starting this game. Hurd to relieve and Cooper to close. Stick to what’s worked regardless of circumstances.

I think we should use an opener. As soon as he gets into any trouble, Skenes emerges out of the bullpen and Florida gets intimidated. We need 27 outs, Skenes cannot get all of them, this is the most efficient way.

I agree, I’d just add Herring to the mix. He’s available.

People who are against this think JJ plans on him going 9 and throwing 120 pitches.

He knows the team plays their best when their bulldog is starting. Start Skenes, see how he does and you never know, he might have 50 pitches through 4 innings. I think at most he goes 5 maybe 6.

You work all year to get to today, you don't sit the possible number 1 pick on the bench.

No, you keep him as close to his routine as possible. He hasn’t come out of the pen all year. It’s a completely different thing.

Fans overthink so freakin bad. Skenes isn't throwing entire game! So they will wait as long as possible to see if and how much he may need to go. Skenes will be just as effective in relief as starting!

Not a terrible strategy. Tampa Bay made this a popular strategy a few years ago. Bad idea in this situation as LSU hasn't used an opener all year and too risky to try it now. Start Skenes.

I just don't see him starting. On a limited pitch count you're going to try to pitch him in a spot that is most effective. The first 3 innings is not the most impactful way of doing it.

Getting warmed up as a starter and a reliever are two totally different things.

The last thing you want to do is have Skenes rushing to get warm after throwing 240 pitches already. He needs to go through his normal routine.

Are we playing the bad news bears or something? That’s not how this works in real life. They know he’s an amazing pitcher but they aren’t going to be “intimidated”

Imagine if yesterday was the 3rd game, and JJ's plan was saving Skenes to close.

By starting Skenes toight, LSU can significantly smother any potential batting groove early on.

I think Skenes starts and gives you 4, Hurd gives you 4, hopefully Cooper to close it out.

Schilling said it best - the kid is 20-21, has had 3 days rest and it's for the NC - so you absolutely go with Skenes!

FL cannot get ahead early. The visions of Saturday will come into play with the players. LSU has to score first and we need to shut them down early and get ahead. Skenes can do that. Then we go to Hurd then Herring or Cooper if available.

Yeah, I'm more concerned about timely hitting than who starts on the bump
But if Skenes pitches at all, he starts
