I remember the story of Saban’s first bash
He was walking with someone from AD dept and he assumed couple hundred people would be there. When told more like 5k he stopped in his tracks and didn’t believe him
Also the cheers for Pete jenkins one year and the place erupting one year when Jimbo introduced himself (think after he considered going elsewhere but stayed)

And he wasn't even the best running back in the state that year
That honor goes to his future Florida State teammate, Javon Walker.
I'd have to say the Woods kid from Salmen was better. Played against both. Woods was shifty as hell. Johnny Wells from Curtis was pretty good too

I got to not tackle Minor on a very good pursuit angle in a HS scrimmage. Dude was faster than me

o this day, Travis Minor is the best high school running back I have ever seen.
LaBrandon Toefield if he doesn’t tear up his knees he’s the best RB. Despite bad knees he’s still better than most. He’s the football version of Randy Livingston.

Chad Lavalais had the best VHS tape that year (and the next 3 years ). Dominated at every position he played.

Seeing the looks on the faces of newly hired assistants at their first bash was always fun. I remember the Bash right after Chavis was hired, the crowd started chanting “CHIEF CHIEF CHIEF” and Chavis has this look like “how tf do these people know who I am?”

My favorite was one of the first years, if not the very first was Charley Mac sitting on stage telling old football stories... I don't remember any, but do remember it was great to listen to... He was a great story teller.
I bid in the silent auction the first year and won a Jack Joubert print with an artists proof (small drawing on the lower right corner) of Dinardo holding a football out with 'Magic' on the football... Because Dinardo was bringing the magic back to LSU. $500 was a lot of money for a broke college student...

Catholic High RBs:
Warrick Dunn
Travis Minor
Derrius Guice
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
That’s ridiculous.

They had about 15 other D-1 running backs in between

I remember DiNardo`s first day on the job he goes to Kevin Faulk`s house

DiNardo sat in the family’s living room. On the coffee table was a camera. Gerry asked Travis if he enjoyed photography, and he replied “No, the camera is on the table because Bobby Bowden visited last night, and my family wanted to take pictures with him”.
Really goes to show how far LSU has come

Is there any market for older Tiger Bash shirts?

He had some moves before that knee went out his senior year. Looked totally different afterwards
A high character guy too. Very conservative minded
I wonder where he is now ?

Man the Bash was great. Taking a random Wednesday off of work just to drink beer, eat endless amounts of jambalaya, and talk LSU football.
