We bogged down because Steele slowed us down lol.

I don’t think Clemson has the personnel, but taking away from Steele’s good game plan is asinine.

When did giving up 508 yards and 30 first downs become a good game plan that someone deserves credit for?

LSU also had two turnovers. They led 23-13 with 13:29 left. Auburn scored with 2:32 left to make the score look better.

That was also early in the season and our line was not what it is today

Wonderful interview. I am sure Venables has reached out to him. AU has no reason to want either to win, but I am sure they would rather another SEC team not claim the title.

Given that Steele was here for a season and seems Les treated him pretty fairly given a very average defense, i would be pretty pissed to know he would help Clemson.

OU didnt stop shite

LSU went into that game knowing that the safeties had no chance against JJ. Burrow rarely even looked at Chase

Yep. Their red zone and short yardage defense was really what kept it close. That, and Stingley gift wrapping their anemic offense a TD with his muffed punt. I’m still convinced that we open up a much bigger lead and they fade like UGA in the SECCG if that doesn’t happen. But it did.

Just glad we did enough in that game.

I dont think they really view it as such when they are discussing gamelans and such with their peers.

And CEH had a field day with 26 carries, 136 yards averaging 5.1 a carry. If you are going to play 7 DB's Coaches E and B are going to give Joe the option to hand the ball off to CEH and that's what he did.

Clemson has to mix it up. It's the only way. They will have to dial up pressure and be extremely timely with it. You can't stack the box, you can't play press and bring the house every play. If they sit back with 7 DBs, LSU will dial up their RPO game with CEH and Joe as running threats. This game is about execution for LSU. I feel good on this side of the ball as we all have all year. The crucial matchups are on the other side of the ball. I'm just a little more skeptical of the major blowout some are predicting.

You can get away with some 3-1 when you have future all-pro first round draft picks up front pressuring Burrow, but if you don’t and the coverage breaks down you’re dead too.

Keep in mind, we ran the ball with Clyde about five straight times on one drive, resulting in a TD. And that was against an All-American/future NFL front three.

3 down DL and one LB is going to get gashed by our running game eventually.

Clemson only had 39 more yards (and 2 less 1st Downs) than Alabama did last year and still boat raced them. At the end of the end of the day the only stat that matters is the number of points you put on the board. Venables is the king of the BDB defense.

If I'm clemson, I keep Simmons in safety as the over more than not...you want him defending passes and the run, not getting outwitted or outran by JB like Murray was in the OU game

I pray they do this, Simmons will get eaten up by our wide outs. He does not have the bend and flex in his hips to stay with Jefferson/Chase/Marshall...same goes for Tanner Muse

LSU had two turnovers, meaning Auburn caused two turnovers. They held us to 23 points. Why can’t you admit they did a good job of keeping us from scoring? Lmao

It doesn’t discredit LSU to compliment Steele

No we didn’t. Maybe 3 points. The two times we “bogged down” there was a defense on the field that had something to do with it.

Ohio State is consoling themselves right now by saying, “We really beat Clemson, but we dropped a couple of passes, and we bogged down, and blah, blah, blah.”

Which is what Venables is hoping for Monday. Good luck with that though.

I think “good” is being used in a relative sense. Honestly, I’m not sure there’s a truly good defensive game plan in existence to defend this offense unless you match up superior talent at every position, and Clemson does not...nor does any other team.

Ohio State probably has the closest thing to a defense capable of defending against the LSU offense.

If Clemson had last year’s defensive line, I’d be more concerned.

Auburn did a good job. Give 'em credit. IMO, our offense grew a lot that day and is better for it now.

What I liked was how we ran CEH 4 straight times for one of our TDs.

Them Gophers are sneaky little vermin!

So if you basically go to a brand new amoebic defense that players have never played and don’t every do anything twice, have sloppy field and have best defensive line in college football, you can hold LSU to 500 yards or so and in the 20s. maybe. Okay

The 3-1-7 was a product of Auburn’s personnel. Constantly mixing up coverages and pre snap looks was the key of course. But every team that’s tried to copy Auburn failed to understand that. I’m not sure how Kirby Smart was dumb enough not to realize that

Yeah, the guy that yelled when Stingley muffed the punt definitely caused him to drop the ball. He was scared and I don't blame him.

Look, Auburn defenders hold on EVERY play. They get called but if the refs called every blatant and obvious hold, every Auburn game would last over 6 hours.

LSU WRs, even while getting mugged on every play, still had 321 receiving yards. So yeah, credit Steele for teaching his DB's how to mug opponent's players and get away with it the majority of the time. Auburn never met a WR that they didn't want to interfere with.
