Are they renovating the ceiling and the walls, etc? Because those are pretty crappy.

Not sure, but as soon as the gymnastic practice building gets finished, they'll be building new locker rooms in the Field House.

Edit: LSU Gymnastics Facility:

quote:

Louisiana State University is improving their already top-tier gymnastics program with the addition of a 38,000 sf state-of-the-art training facility. The design beautifully integrates the iconic LSU arches with a sleek curvilinear facade of glass and steel that reflects the grace and power of the gymnasts inside.

The facade needs work too. it still looks old as hell on the outside, but a start is a start.

Found this pic at the LSU Track site:

quote:

Highlighting the updates is the addition of locker rooms for both the Tigers and Lady Tigers, featuring 52 lockers per team, so every student-athlete will receive his or her own locker. The complex will also feature a newly-built team meeting room equipped with multimedia capabilities.

I know if anyone can find it, you can, TOG. Would you happen to have a rendering of the additional grandstand they had planned to add to the outdoor track? It was going to go where the current scoreboard is. Also saw a few pics of a nice plaza outside the indoor and outdoor facilities. It looked like a nice 4-6 million dollar project so I wonder if the project has been on hold or they botched the plans. I remember seeing them around 2009

That "additional grandstand" might be on hold. Due to other plans, that whole area might look completely different, if what I hear is true.

I do know this much:

quote:

Additionally, TAF gained approval January from the University Board of Supervisors to assist in demolition of vacated housing properties on Nicholson Drive across from the LSU Bernie Moore Track Stadium, David said. This will create parking space for 80 RVs and 1,100 cars by the first home football game on Sept. 6. Commuter students will also be able to use the lot.

These?

The "Pedestrian Corridor" part might be delayed, but I believe it will become a reality some day. LSU does plan to make the central campus car-free at some point in the future, budget allowing.

Agreed, lack of banked turns still keeps indoor program as a backwater

Nah, thanks for looking but those were not it. Also the new track surface isn't banked because the facility will still serve as as a refuge station for hurricanes

I remember going to Spring Testing in that old dilapidated building - glad they finally did something about it.

Minor point, more of an observation. From what one can see in the pictures, you can't really tell what school it is. Was there any thought to different colors of the surfaces or logos or lettering, or is that verboten in T & F?
