I read DD every morning after I check my emails. I go to 24/7, On3 & Rivals. Then I read the Recruiting and Rant boards...

It’s really cool that Scott picked up the torch and continued on with the site. Well done.

DD is my first site after checking email.

Don was the eternal optimist, and so old school he would never criticize in the least anyone in a LSU uniform or really anyone else. The ONLY thing that bothered me was when he'd say something like "Billy Cannon is one of the best players in LSU history". Come on Don! Say he was the best! Haha

Scott is a little more Gen X. He will criticize (lightly) when necessary and says things that need to be said but that Don would probably keep to himself.

Scott, your Dad would be proud of how you've continued the site, and we are glad you did!

Dude I remember reading Dandy on dial up in high school in the late 90s, took forever for the page to load. Then I got to LSU and they had this magical shite called the “Ethernet” in Herget Hall… after class every morning (2000) I couldn’t wait to read Dandydon because that was pretty much the only LSU site I knew. I got Tiger Rag delivered still at that time, but Dandy was the cat’s pajamas to me. Don Long would respond promptly to messages too. RIP.

Very similar. After grad school (92), I moved to S Florida and had both the Tiger Rag and Daily Reveille delivered. They’d send the Reveille in bundles every couple of weeks. Dandy Don became the ‘go to’ in the late 90s.

Scott has done a good job but you have to remember those purple glasses are very dark.
that's why I haven't visited the Dandy Don site in years. Just too much homerism.

I don't mind a pro-LSU slant, of course.

But Dandy Don is too much of a blind homer for me.

What a great lasting bond between father and son
No better place to get your lsu fix for the day all in one place.
Still refreshing when you see where media has trended in clickbaits.
Most of our parents grew up computer illiterate and this site is a bridge to that era.

It’s a welcome break from the “sky is falling” thoughts expressed here

I can thank Dandy Don for my finding Tiger Droppings. I don't remember exactly how but something written on Dandy Don mentioned Tiger Droppings and I searched for it.

For decades, the first thing I would do every morning was go outside, rain or shine, get the paper and read it.
Since I don’t get the paper anymore, the first thing I do is check Tigerdroppings to make sure the world hasn’t ended. The second thing I do is read Dandy Don.

Don was the best. I’d give him information, he would keep it between us, never releasing it till I’d tell him. One local guy, I gave him information, he released it way too early.
I made a Spring LSU game in the press box with Don. After we made a baseball game at the box. He had to leave early, heading back home to get the next days information compiled.

Yes he was a great guy, RIP.

Scott does a great job continuing Dandy Don!
