You “feel” and you “think,” huh? You think these people making decisions are doing it based on emotion or the piles and piles of actual data they’ve accumulated over the decades they’ve been doing this?

Auburn/Georgia is unquestionably a bigger brand matchup than LSU/Tennessee both regionally and nationally. I’m not sure the competitiveness of either game really matters much anyway. The only real criticism could be that CBS didn’t exercise their option of waiting an extra week. If we donkey stomp Auburn 50-0 or something, that may change things a bit (even then, not totally sure how much). But they only have a couple of those option and have to use them judiciously. Probably a safer bet to keep this one in their pocket in case they really need it later in the season.

There is no ESPN night game because of CBS double header.

CBS just wants to advertise that they will have the number 1 and number 2 teams on that day. Our fans overthink all of this.

It’s really not that hard, and I don’t understand the reactions yet I’m not surprised everyone is surprised by this. CBS’ MO for years has been to take the highest-ranked team available as much as possible.

Time will tell but CBS appears to have made an error in judgement taking the Auburn/UGA game. It probably won't be competitive and ratings will crash where as LSU vs TENN will most likely be a very competitive game with a lot of eyeballs on the screen. Not just Louisiana and Tennessee eyeballs but also other SEC schools of interest as well as Notre Dame fans who want to see Kelly lose

Apparently CBS wanted Georgia in one of the two slots because they would not have Georgia on CBS again until Week 8, the Florida game. CBS wanted to get the #1 team in the nation on their network before that game.

Is Shea suggesting CBS got to pick 2 games before ESPN got to pick one? Because I don't think that's how it works.

With the CBS contract ending LSU should give the cold shoulder in any upcoming CBS games. And by the cold shoulder I mean metal folding chairs, cold, clammy chicken tenders, and lukewarm drinks. When they complain let them know that these are the 11:30 accomodations.

Y'all are overthinking this shite bigtime

It's a nationally televised game, the majority of the viewers aren't going to be in the South.

If it were ACC, would you rather watch a competitive Wake Forest-NC State game, or Clemson? If Big 10, do you want Minnesota-Michigan State, or Ohio State?
If it's me, I pick the Clemson and Ohio State games. I'm not that interested in "a good matchup" or what MAY be a tight game between teams I have no interest in, I'm scoping out the known powers that likely make a run at the playoffs. I want to see what they have, why they might be a threat to beat Alabama or Georgia.

People in other parts of the country don't want to watch "a good game", they want to see #1 play.

CBS gets to pick the first two games when they have a double header on the docket.

I’m not going to blame the company that paid millions of dollars to have their right to chose the games

As far as revenue paid to the SEC the CBS TV contract is by far the worst/lowest. CBS should never have been granted the opportunity to broadcast 2 same day games in key time slots. Glad to see the non-renewal after 2023.

But ultimately it's CBS's call, and like networks always do, they made their own decision.

We should have gotten the SEC Network slot that Kentucky vs South Carolina has.

You're applying today's perspective to this.

Even a couple years ago, having games on live OTA broadcasts on the big networks was a bigger deal, than having the cable channels saturated. The CBS arrangement was a carryover from that. Nowadays, everyone streams everything, even if they still have cable. Technically, the LSU-New Mexico broadcast was 'streamed', even if you watched it on Cox, because it wasn't on a channel.

Once we're in the top 10 for good - if not this year then for sure next - we will always be at 2:30 or evening.

We just have to be patient. Part of the alignment.

Well you and others don’t like football or sports in general. 99.9% of the time It’s not much fun watching a blowout. I have three screens in my garage, I always start with the three games I’m interested in the most and as the games progress I move to the best games.

CBS will take #1 and #2 who both play teams that will (probably) not be in the top 25

Over two teams that will (probably) be in the top 25.

CBS is a joke.

Muh Jimbo/Saban rivalry though

You think LSU is going to be Competive. I predict final score 41-24.

Ok if CBS didn’t want LSU-TN fine, what Einstein then decided 11:00 am vs SEC 6:30 pm?

Brian Kelly has the whole NCAA scared and that’s a fact. They know he’s about to retire Nick Saban, They’re doing everything in their power to hold him back
