Not shocked. When LSU was #1 in 2011, it was 230pm games . UGA is #1, CBS wants the #1 team on their network.

As I understand it, CBS fricked things up with their day night double header. CBS gets picks 1 and 3 from the schedule. ESPN gets pick #2 but CBS gets an exclusive SEC window for their primetime game (SEC Network not included) so ESPN doesn't have their typical 6PM SEC game. So ESPN grabbed the best available game but the only time slot they have is 11AM.

Didn’t you say 11:00 wasn’t a possibility in the thread that got whacked this morning?

Nevwr said there was one

I am just factually telling you whose “fault it is”. It is lsu and the sec to “blame”

They signed the contract to allow the networks to choose the games how they want

You can stomp your feet and whine at CBS but they did want their contract we signed allowed them to do

I completely forgot it was the sec double header weekend. I knew we would be ESPNs first choice, but in terrible luck fashion that coincided with the one weekend their first choice game isn’t at night

I am the only one not being a bitch here

LSU and the SEC signed a contract allowing CBS to pick the games they want. Period. This isn’t a discussion on “who is at fault”.

You’re acting like you don’t understand how/why people are annoyed with this

Even though you’re right, you’re just a douche about it

I get why people are annoyed. But bitching at CBS and trying to pass blame is just so pathetic

I think most would argue the MSU v. LSU game looked like a much more competitive matchup than UGA v. USC (and it was). However, the viewership numbers for the two games were nearly identical. This, despite LSU playing a "Saturday night in Death Valley" and UGA playing a noon start in South Carolina. Both games were on ESPN, so it's not like CBS's national reach played any role in the viewership (Auburn v. Penn St was far and away the highest rated game that day).

LSU seemed to have the "better" opponent and the more desirable time slot. Yet, essentially the same amount of people watched each game. Or in other words, LSU's more desirable opponent and time slot relative to Georgia's didn't matter much at all
bro you can't be real with this shite. LSU had to compete with ranked Miami/TAMU (right after that crap with Jimbo losing), old rivalry Oklahoma/Nebraska, right after Frost was fired, and Penn St/Auburn, a game marked on calendars since last year and was supposed to be the game of the week.

It is what it is. The plus side to winning one of these 11 am games is that the highlights get played throughout the day.

Why not play it at night and be on SECN? I know they can’t play it on ESPN that night… but he’ll either SECN or just stream it on SECN+

For me, I just feel like it's a bad business decision. UGA will beat Auburn mercilessly. It won't be competitive and the ratings will suck because of it.

Also, people outside of those 2 fanbases don't give a shite about their "rivalry". It isn't the Iron Bowl or Red River Shootout that has national rivalry appeal.

LSU and UT are both big, historical programs and that game has all the signs of being very competitive in a very raucous stadium. I think it would get much better ratings.

Georgia is the strong #1 team this season. Defending champs, returning QB, and the most dominant win in ranked matchups this season (totally raped Oregon).

We're coming off 2 bad seasons, and a season-opening loss to a team we were predicted to beat. And Tennessee is probably going to be the team they talk more about, since they're undefeated and still in the "are they back?" category.

Anyone other than diehard LSU fans see the better option, on a national level. The UGA game isn't about a competitive matchup, it's about highlighting the #1 team.

I've been a pretty longtime lurker and a recent poster. What I've noticed is that you're pretty much the Town Prick. No idea why, except you must crave attention.

Some people just want to complain and whine and bury the truth. Life of society today

I’m not going to blame the company that paid millions of dollars to have their right to chose the games

Bro, OU v. Nebraska kicked off at the same time as Georgia v. South Carolina....on one of the big 4 networks (Fox). And there was only 20 minutes of overlap between the LSU v MSU game and A&M v Miami...a game that started at 9:10 pm Eastern time.

LSU had the better matchup on paper (UGA was a 25.5 point favorite). LSU had the "night" slot everyone is arguing is so desirable. The LSU game was close throughout, whereas the UGA v. South Carolina game became a blowout very quickly 24-0 at the HT; 31-0 2 minutes into the 3rd). Yet, the ratings were pretty much the same.

While you, me, and many SEC fans may know LSU v. UT looks like it will be a better game than UGA v AU, CBS doesn't look at it that way. They want to draw the most attention from ALL parts of the country. Georgia being the #1 team in the country will probably get more people from NY, PA, CA, IL, OH, etc to tune in than a game between two programs who for the last two years at least haven't been overly successful.

Even just 2 years ago, LSU gets the benefit of the doubt and the preferable treatment. But when you go 11-12 over the past two seasons you aren't seen quite as marketable as you were in the past. For a long time LSU was probably the second biggest national draw in the SEC behind Alabama. LSU faltered and Georgia stepped in.

Apparently CBS wanted Georgia in one of the two slots because they would not have Georgia on CBS again until Week 8, the Florida game.

Poor Vandy doesn't even exist as far as CBS is concerned.

So why couldn't they make it the ESPN night game?
