Has there been any update on the injury and the likelihood he’ll be a go tonight?

Complete speculation on my part, but I wouldn't expect to see him in the lineup the rest of the tournament.

do not see him going tonight, view of him leaning on the dugout rail with his hand wrapped looked like there was some moderate swelling in his fingers, jay said it was a lot of blood so i speculate he got stitches

I doubt he could grip a bat right now

Stitches. Don't expect him back for the tourney.

From Jay
quote:

“He got his hand stepped on directly, and it was ugly,” Johnson said after the game. “I mean, it was really bloody. If you don’t like blood, you would not have liked to see it. Had it wrapped up. I’m assuming he got stitches. Have no idea other than that.”

Because it’s his right hand it’s possible he could DH, definitely vantage catch. It all depends on the swelling going down to allow him to grip the bat

Best case they win tonight, and the swelling goes down and he can play on Friday night. But that’s still a stretch

He could hit better with one healthy hand than some on the bench with two healthy hands. Let him bat if it is not hurting and get him to slide feet first.

I have new respect for “oven mitt” base running gloves that protect the hand.
