I’ve been a season ticket holder since the mid ‘70’s and you can’t be any more full of shite. The 4 years I was in school our fan base was not divided. In fact it wasn’t until Coach Mac’s last couple of years that it said we needed a change and even then we weren’t divided.

Coach Arnsbarger through Archer in 1988, we weren’t divided.

It’s Les Miles that really overstayed his welcome much like Coach Mac because he WOULD NOT MODERNIZE HIS OFFENSE. That is what caused the division then with Coach Mac and what has put us in the funk we are currently in.

As far as Saban’s comment, it’s the back-up QB position we’ve always been enamored by withthe exception of Hodson for most of his career. Coach Mac caused that.

Arnsparger through Archer in 1988

Those were, unfortunately, the halcyon days of LSU football. I remember from 1984-1988 the stadium was packed and the fans actually STAYED til the horn sounded to end the game (except for the horrid loss to Miami in 1988)!

We had been through so much grief late in Mac's tenure as well as Stovall's, that when Arnsparger surfaced in 1984 he was regarded as the savior of LSU football.

The beginning of the end was that dreadful loss to OSU in 1988, and reached a crescendo with the blowout loss to Miami and Hall of Fame loss to Syracuse. No one knew at the time that was a harbinger of the darkest phase ever of LSU football.

The knock on Saban was he was too conservative offensively and played not to lose.

popular myth. Saban always learned from mistakes at MSU and always talked about it on coaches shows. Do you remember the interview on the coaches show with saban in 2001 after that wild crazy arky game? we were up late in a shootout, and it was 3rd and long. jimbo asked nick "do you wanna run and punt?" nick said hell no we have rohan and reed throw the damn ball and ice the game. and that is how we iced the game. and before some assclown says oh saban meddled also. no, the HC will always have authority to finish halves and games as he sees fit. it does not mean he meddled all damn game. anyone who was at that game as I was knew there was not meddling. Ro was on fire that game.

I am getting old and I don’t think I can remember a 5 year period when everyone was on same page. Even when Saban was here the administration hated him and he was “Nick the Dick”, Charley Mac split the base, Arnsperger was gone too fast etc. It’s time to fricking admit it’s us not them. We are the fricking bi-Polar fan base of the SEC. Can we at least wait for the GD loses before we start bitching. This is true. There has been always an instant gratification demand out of a certain segment. They have no patience and the first sign of something not going how they think it should go they go off the deep end.

As far as admins at LSU despising Saban - many did. But not all. There were two influential BOS members at that time and a cabal of influential boosters who would take up for Saban over anyone else. Two pro Saban camps - 1. who just saw him (like Emmert) as necessary evils as in 'he is an a.. but he is our a..." But felt he was the best we could possibly get and that alone deserved loyalty. 2. True admiration and did not even pay attention how much of a jerk he was. He could walk on water.

But the majority saw him for what he was and Emmert for that matter. Outsiders who were never going to stay here for long, never respected Louisiana and necessary evils who can just avoid the door hitting them on the way out:).

Help Mac Pack, Get a U-Haul for Stovall, etc. goes way back! Even when Saban was hired my neighbor wanted to know who that Clown was? At work they ripped Miles when he was hired. I go back to the 50's and I got a rule do not like anyone!

Someone once wrote the following on another site. Essentially the number one fantasy in the subconscious minds of a fringe element in our fan base is for a HC to win the NC one day and for the next day an AD to fire that same HC. Then the next day that said AD hires some mythical being was was actually better the HC who just won a NC. Then the week following the AD gets fired and the BOS appoints both a new President of LSU and AD to complete the cycle.

What decent program doesn’t? UGA fired their miles in mark richt. Auburn was about to fire Gus in 2015 until they beat us in the “buyout bowl.” Let Saban lose 3 at Bama this year... This is absolutely in no way shape or form unique to LSU. Good football programs bitch when they don’t don’t have “good” football teams. Check out a Michigan board, or an Ohio state board after the Clemson blowout. Expect this exact same reaction on a board of any proud program, if it bothers you follow go Boston College where 8-5 is fine because no one really gives a shite. But at the same time only 60k will show up when they are “winning.” Step outside outside your bubble. Water is wet. You have catastrophe syndrome in regards to our catastrophe syndrome.

You just gave a great example of how two wrongs don't make a right. Or, at the least two forms of stupidity don't make a knee reaction an intelligent notion. If you can't figure that one out - God help you.

For the last mother fricking time; Ed Orgeron is not Nick Saban. One is the greatest HC in CFB history and the other is the worst HC in Ole Miss history. Stop the fricking comparisons

Saban is at least in top three. McKay, Woody Hayes, Bear Bryant, Rockne, Parseghian, Osbourn etc. Perhaps the best. But it may be best mind manipulator recruiter in the Universe and very good HC as far a overall coaching. There there is the Bama in the past decade has been allowed to murder and his blood brother pact with Emmert must be factored in. He has certain advantages no other HC in the history of CFB has been able to enjoy. It makes it a little easier:).

Ogeron has a lot to prove. But the worst coach in Ole Miss thing is old. What he did at Ole Miss only mattered when considering him as a candidate. Now that he is the HC the only that matters is what happens while he is the coach at LSU - not what happened a decade ago.

“Arnsperger”

You mean the guy who coached his final yr at LSU with a unsigned contract to be Fla.’s next AD in his back pocket??

“Bottom line Bob” was right when he wanted to fire that guys arse went he off the plane from his visit to Fla.

It’s amusing to me when some want to act like this off-season is some how different than most off seasons in regard to fans rehashing the results of the season just finished. It isn’t.

If every major fanbase had a massive forum like this, it'd look similar.

From 2010-2012, I bitched about nothing but the offense, and how Miles failed to develop a QB, outside of that, I loved winning 10 games in the regular season alone. Hell, his tenure up til 2014 was great for me. He had won 10+ games in 7 of 9 years, and at least 11 in 5 of 9 years.

LSU is talented enough to be that team like Clemson, or Ohio St, or Oklahoma, that wins 10, 11, 12 games a year. Problem is that LSU hasn't had the HC, with the forward thinking mindset to run a spread offense and focus on developing a passing game. Neither Meyer (WR), Swinney (WR), or Stoops (DC), coached QBs previously, well they say Meyer coached WRs AND QBs for one year at Illinois St, but that's not anything. Swinney was an OC for one year (first transition year as HC), but for the most part, none of these three were offensive coordinators.

Yet, all three are known for offense, and all three have had powerful offenses for years!!!

Stoops won 11+ plus games in 12 of 18 years (14 of 18 with at least 10 wins).

Meyer has won 11+ plus games in 10 of his 16 years, winning 10+ in 11 years, and has won less than 12 games only once in his 6 year career at Ohio St.

Swinney has won 11+ games in 5 of the last 7 years. He has won at least 10 games every year the last 7 years.

Mullen is going to put Florida back on the map in less than 3 years (which hurts because we could have had him 2 years ago), and that is going to be another permanent loss on the schedule every year, because our people in charge refuse a forward thinking mindset. It's aggravating being a LSU fan knowing damn well all it takes is somebody to not be a dumbass, and hire a young offensive guy running a modern offense.

We'll be United when the guys in charge give a damn and stop being jackasses, and the fanbase as a whole decides not to settle for mediocrity. I will not change and be content with 4 loss seasons.
