The NC State reports are all over the place. Some say he is the top choice (he interviewed yesterday). Others say he’s out and is waiting on a bigger job. Could just be negotiating leverage, but there aren’t many “bigger” jobs available. The only ones right now are Indiana and Virginia. It’s hard to say Virginia is a bigger job and I don’t think he’s Indiana’s top choice.

So what could be the “bigger job”?…Texas.

Texas has the new facilities Wade demanded at LSU. They have the NIL money.

WW is better than MM but he’s not some elite coach

he is exactly an elite coach. mcneese was aa useless tub of losers when he arrived. they lost 23 games. he went to 30-2 in conference in his career there, two tournament appearances. he made the conference his bitch and he did it instantly. no rebuild, no years of installing the system and bedrock and foundation. instant domination, which is exactly what he said he would do.

"there will be no rebuild. we will start winning now. mcneese lost 23 last year, we are gonna win 23 plus next year. remember I said that"

- will wade when hired.

they went 30-4 and undefeated at home. wade is elite. he is by miles the best coach available. he is also young and will make wherever he goes into a powerhouse for decades.

He interviewed with NC St. today. He told them earlier this week he would not talk until after the SLC tournament, that’s where reports about him saying no came from.

Just listen to his post game presser last night. He basically said I’m going to take the next few days to talk to people, but I didn’t before this game.

He’s made it known Texas is his first choice. That may be a timing issue. They can’t fire Terry until he loses out of the SECT or if he loses in the first round in the NCAAT. NC St is probably not going to wait for that to play out so he’ll have a decision to make.

The wildcard is IU. Hard to tell if he’s in the mix there or not.

If for whatever reason none of these three work out - assuming other big jobs don’t open up - I could see him back at McNeese for another year. Could give LSU a chance to get our head out of our arse (I know it’s not going to happen, but I can still hope lol).

Saban left for the NFL. When he came back to college, LSU was successful with Miles. So Saban coming back was not an option. He wanted to go to a school where football was first and he could have control. Alabama unfortunately was that school.

Wade is not Saban. If him going to another SEC school will kill you, then you need to stop watching sports and let it dictate your life.

If Wade takes Texas to the Final Four or even has them at the top of the league in his first 2 years, it will be very unpleasant around here for Woodward.

Texas fricked up by stupidly firing Beard, and they’ve had to watch, first hand, the historically worst program in the SEC, Ole Miss, reap the benefits. They won’t let virtue signaling guide their decision again.

Yep. At least Texas is pulling the plug quick and going to get the best name out there (assuming Terry doesn’t make a run). Instead of at least attempting this, Scott is just ignoring the program.

ETA. It is interesting that Beard’s name didn’t surface in the IU search or even the Texas search. Have to think there’s a ceiling at OM.

Woodward’s peace is tied to Kelly. If LSU blows this second opportunity for a CFP spot then the arrows will be pointed directly at Woodward for saddling the school with two onerous contracts they can’t get out from under despite both programs failing to win at a high level.

Agreed. Basketball alone won’t be his downfall. But Wade having quick high level success will draw criticism.

I am sure that SW is losing so much sleep over that thought too.

I can’t imagine Beard is long for Ole Miss. he’s probably just keeping his name out of the fray for now and there is no big rush.

Maybe he is holding out for the LSU job to open up next year. Or Arkansas next year.

Our fans are too stupid and too biased to understand anything which is why we’ll never be what we should or what their delusion of LSU is. They sit here puffing out their chest about baseball and women’s basketball, both don’t turn a profit, when men’s basketball makes more than those two and every other sport combined save football. Last year Football made 9.9 mil which was down from the previous season and basketball made just over 1mil which is a decade low. Every other program leaches off those 2 and both had down years, basketball is sinking like a stone. So with those 2 carrying everyone else and operating costs increasing, having basketball bleeding out 4-500k per year during McMahon’s tenure and dropping Woody has a real problem on his hands.

Was the 2019 football season so good that you just forgot about the 2018-2019 basketball season or how about in January of 2022 (before Pinson went down), we were 12 in the AP poll after back-to-back home wins against Kentucky and Tennessee.

But don't let things like facts cloud your story.

He did all that before his 40th birthday. Can you name any coach EVER that had this level of sustained success at multiple schools at such a young age. The dumbasses that say crap like this have no clue how impressive it is to do what he did so early in his career. His ceiling at LSU with any support at all from the athletic department would have been a top 15 program.

Branch McCracken: Led Indiana to the 1940 national championship at age 31.
Bob Knight: Made his first Final Four appearance at age 32 in 1973.
Brad Stevens: Led Butler to the Final Four at age 33 in 2011.
Danny Ford: Won a national championship at age 33.

Thanks for making my point. Lots of hall of fame coaches in that list and not many of them peaked before 40. What would have happened if LSU supported and stuck with him?
