I was reading a new article this AM and it mentioned LSU returns 10/22 starters so I was curious how we compared to the other SEC teams and came across an article about returning production. I know the 48% number has already been mentioned on here, but I don't think ranking has so here is where we rank vs SEC:

8: Miss St 81%
21: Florida 75%
35: TX A&M 72%
40: Arkansas 71%
47: Auburn 69%
50: Kentucky 69%
52: Mizzou 68%
77: Ole Miss 63%
95: Georgia 60%
103: Bama 58%
108: Vandy 55%
113: Tenn 53%
122: LSU 48%

Although only 8 teams in CFB have less returning production, it also reflects that teams like GA and Bama are in essentially the same position. Specifically for LSU we return 39% offensive production (124th) and 57% (90th) on defense.

It will be interesting to see how that translates to the top 5 SEC teams on the list who all expect a better 2018 season.

No Chark or Gage to run jet sweeps, what’d you expect?

That’s impossible. All I heard last year- They’re young give them time.

LSU is replacing production with potential. Some will guarantee improvement. Others are hopeful, but understand there isn't a guarantee of improvement. The former call the latter "bad" fans.

I assume this is just skill positions which we knew we were losing heavily in.

No but this proves the youth excuse last year was wrong. This is the year that the team will be plenty young. That might not be the end of the world in my opinion but it should have never been used as an excuse in 2017.

I loved it last year, we are too young, we have no depth....PLAY THE BACK UP!!!

shite will be ugly this year, quick. If O just quits going to practice and games, we got a shot to beat a few people. But that is our best bet.

I specifically mentioned Bama and GA being in essentially the same position as us in loss of production to stop dumb arse comments like this.

I never once mentioned it as an excuse. If it's not fact then refute it.

It includes defensive production as well and as I mentioned we return 10/22 starters. I do believe we are in better shape on the front 7 though despite our defensive losses. If we stay healthy at corner I think this will be one of our best units in years. I knew posting facts would result in some of the ignorant comments on here (not directed at you). I just thought this was an interesting discussion point.

I'm not worried about WR. Chark and Gage were fine players, but not irreplaceable. LSU should have more than enough talent at WR to create mis-match problems all over the field. RB is going to be a big drop off (though I think CEH is better than people might think). The O-line potentially could be better (I never thought Weathersby and Malone big time players), but that is an unknown. QB is a complete mystery. We do know, however, that LSU is going to have to move the ball through the air. They won't be able to just line up and run the ball down people's throat all day long. Ensminger's #1 job (IMO) is to design/call plays that allow his WR to get into space. It doesn't have to be deep balls all game long, but they will have to use all areas of the field...included the middle of the field which has terrified LSU for a decade.

On defense the only question marks are CB (opposite Williams) and edge rusher. After watching Chaisson and Moore in the spring game, I feel much more confident in the edge.

Stats do not bode well for teams who return less than 14 starters and have a first year starting QB. (Bama excluded).

Were in for an interesting year.

I actually find it hard to believe it's that high. I saw offense was at 39%. Losing our quarterback, top 2 running backs, and top 2 receivers you think it would be lower than that figure.

A lot of good teams are at the bottom. This is why I laugh at the MSU dorks.

Sad thats the state were in... yes. LSU football has been held in high regard up until O became coach. At least in the last season Les was still the coach we were still in the top 10. Now no one even has faith in this team anymore.
