Bayou Brian isn’t getting paid 10 million a year for 5th place in his division. He will do better.

Think a lot of people are overrating Ole Miss, A&M and Arkansas

I’m not saying all three will fall below LSU but, there will be at least one that severely disappoints (Arkansas lol)

Hot take: I don’t think Auburn will be last either..

Someone also gave fricking Vanderbilt a first place vote so these pre-season polls are useless.

I feel like every couple years everyone says auburn is going to suck. Auburn never sucks. I think State will be 7th.

Agree. Arky will take a step back. They had perfect combo of 5th/6th year players last year. And still finished 8-4 regular season. I don't get the love.

I'd put money on LSU finishing no worse than 3rd in the West.

The only surprise for me is seeing Kentucky picked ahead of Tennessee. Otherwise, that is where I expected everyone else would be picked.

We know what a disaster Orgeron was. We know there is probably a bit more talent on this team that some might be giving them credit for. But the reality is LSU was an 11-11 team (8-10 in SEC) over the last two seasons. Thus, they have to re-earn the benefit of the doubt. The SEC West is currently the toughest division in all of college football, by far. Hell, just those seven teams ALONE would be the toughest conference in all of football. Still, someone has to finish last...even if that team still has a winning record overall. It is entirely possible LSU finishes the season 8-4 and 5th in the West. Last year 3 teams in the West finished with 4-4 records and were T-3rd - 5th (however you want to categorize it).

IMO, it is hard to see Alabama not winning the West again. A&M will have talent. But they also have a TON of pressure to win now and will have to face a difficult schedule to do it. Arkansas is greatly improved. But they aren't sneaking up on anyone this year and a lot of things, in close games, when their way last year. Mississippi St. has a veteran QB in year 3 of a system that has had success for years. But in the SEC it still has a ceiling. Ole Miss is a wildcard. They could probably beat anyone or lose to anyone. Auburn is saying all of the right things. But the cloud of the tumultuous offseason is just behind the corner. The back half of their schedule is brutal, and if things go south even just a little bit the discord that was present in February could come back in like an avalanche.

Keep in mind it's a "media" poll. And how much faith do YOU have in the "media"???
