What are the penalties though?
A strongly worded letter of condemnation posted on the official X account of the SEC.

Interesting wording using policy instead of rule, bylaw etc.
Anyone know the actual text of this new rule or are they going to let Stanky use it under his standing powers?
The devil will be in the details as to if this will stand up to a court challenge or just grandstanding.

As lane said.
Why are they punishing THIS tro and not other TROs.
Everyone is ineligible

They can enforce fines and coach suspension. They can't override the court decision. The Universities will have to make a decision on whether they are willing to take a fine or coach suspension.

It’s crazy to me that these major conferences have chosen to go after their money making member institutions rather than banding together to force the NCAA’s hand on a reasonable set of rules. How the frick did these old guys get in these positions. They can’t see the forest through the trees.
Now the conferences will be the named party in all of these lawsuits moving forward.

The bigger issue is the fact that all of these bureaucrats keep sticking to the "amateur/student-athlete" narrative. College athletes are now being paid to play for said school. They are no longer amateurs, but are, in fact, paid professionals.

Lawyers involved are loving this shite. Infinite billable hours for all the lawsuits about to explode.

Of course. But they have to say it, because the dickless school presidents don’t want them to be contracted employees…which they are

Stankey is such a douche. The most undeserved smugness as well like he does anything useful.

They can’t, everyone getting sued.
Posted on 8/25/26 at 6:10 pm to Handsome Pete
When is sankey going to enforce that players can’t get a 6th year for their throat hurting?
Posted on 8/25/26 at 6:12 pm to Handsome Pete
I’m glad - as long as it’s enforced consistently I hope LSU doesn’t try to fight it.

Sec will lose in court, they know it.

Nah we gotta force this to its logical end.

This. What an odd hill to die on just to look like you're doing something.

They will have no way to enforce this after the injunctions
Their power is against the institutions not the players.

I would not take these guys after this statement, because the SEC can penalize schools significantly. Let the individual players sue the hell out of the SEC, because they’ll win and the SEC will have FAFO.

frick Sankey. This will result in endless lawsuits and be a big, fat nothing burger.
What about the presidents of all of these schools that agreed to this?
