They are SOL too. They voted unanimously to save face.
LSU knows the players will sue for prelim injunction against NCAA (and co-name SEC as a defendant) and be off to the races with eligibility just like they were prior to the SEC statement. Keep in mind where this trial is being held…East Baton Rouge.

Why do some of yall want to keep getting the courts involved to undermine the structure of college athletics? They should stay out of it.

If the conference is looped in with the injunction against the NCAA, which based on the language, you can reasonably argue, I have a very hard time seeing the conference penalize LSU. That would be punitive and very, very ugly.

Yeah, I really don’t understand why our fans are dick riding this.
If they were eligible then sure, get them. But this is an absolute circus.
I miss the good ole days of a bar fight two weeks before week 1 being the big news.

The SEC doesn’t have power over the players but they do over the schools. Court orders are irrelevant if no school will play them due to the ban. These kids will never play.

And all the AD’s and presidents have already met. I’m sure it was agreed by all these kids wouldn’t play before the “ban” was announced

There is an NCAA rule called the Rule of Restitution that says that a school can be retroactively punished if they play a player made eligible by a TRO later ruled to be ineligible.
However, the Justice Department and several state AG's told the NCAA told the NCAA that enforceing that rule in a matter involving eligibility and transfers could constitute a crime.
Now, that was 2024 under a different administration and a different situation.
Also, many of the TRO's specifically order the Restitution rule to be void in that case. Not sure in this instance.

Not in this situation. Not after court... and as always, it depends on the schools involved. Texas and LSU are both impacted by the rule. Alabama is nothing in the NIL era.

They will just wait. And then punish LSU.
It’s not worth it for LSU over 3 players.

If not now, later. If not for this, for something else.
The SEC will win over LSU. It’s just not worth it now.
