LSU is brazenly exploiting the ridiculous rules or lack there of. Get your shite together and then come after the players.

“Don’t hate the player hate the game” is never more true.

The SEC s not powerless. Confetence rules have been adjudicated in court successfully almost every instance. NCAA has been neutered consistently. There is a distinction.

I think the SEC should fine Ole Miss $1 million dollars for playing Trinidad Chambliss even though the NCAA ruled him ineligible!

There was a distinction. If you think that an SEC punishment of a member school as a result of the actions of a third-party organization (NCAA) holds in court, you’re wrong. If you think SEC opens themselves to that courtroom defeat, you are wrong again.

If these people were truly concerned with morality they would consider doing right by the players. Whether or not they would have chosen to come back or to go pro will never be known because they never had the decision to make. Now that it is an option you have to allow them that same opportunity.

Funny how these idiots act like there are any morals left in this sport.

They have no teeth on this. Nothing about this is similar to something like Sorsby which I've actually seen people try to associate with which is laughable.

At worst this is a 1 year exemption. If the NCAA didn't fumble over their own feet this mess wouldn't be happening right now. Those players have every right to come back to play in this unique situation. Blame the NCAA for being useless as ever.

And no, I'm not advocating for players who signed contracts to come back. It sucks but this is the NCAA's doing and is a more unique situation so I can understand why schools like LSU are moving on it.

I am not referring to a punishment. If the SEC rules include a prohibition on those folks that have declared for the NFL draft, you have no option but to comply.

They may preclude it beginning with next year. No clue, but conference rules, whether Big 10, ACC, etc have had their rules held up in court almost every time.

Conferences do have power.

See my post above. NCAA as limited teeth as they have been defeated in court many times.

Confereces are a large distiction as conference rules have a longstanding success in court. Every conference.

Can a conference make a rule and it apply retroactively to an athlete?

If the $1M fine is on the table, they pay it and play the players. If they decide punishment should be harsher, LSU appeals in court. Simple

If they try something harsher then LSU threatens to leave the SEC…you don’t think the BIG 12 or ACC would suddenly get on their knees begging us to join…Sankey would shite himself…

I wonder what his stance was on a 24 yr old qb that was ruled ineligible this past winter, and is playing week1
Completely different situation. Chambliss lied about an injury and that’s admirable behavior

The NCAA is a collection of universities that have banded together for administrative purposes.

The SEC is a collection of universities that have banded together for administrative purposes. The same ones as in the NCAA.

So, if a court ruling applies to the NCAA, the same schools cannot then come back to the court under a different name and get a different ruling on the same issue.

Right now, the SEC is trying to figure out if they do what the B1G did, if they would be guilty of collusion for the purposes of violating a court order.

The NCAA needs to take the loss here. They screwed up. They caused this mess. They need to shut up and let these players play lest another court take further action against them, as in take away their ability to set any eligibility rules. They could easily talk themselves into making it a lot worse.

Is this rule the SEC wants to make only for football?

I’ve seen plenty of pro baseball players come back and play football.

Basketball has had pro athletes playing for years.

Why is nobody going after Texas? They are doing the same thing.

I mean personally I hate the way college football is now also but it’s strange that only LSU gets called out like nobody else is doing it.

Something should've been done. Abd the fact that the SEC/NCAA did NOT address the potential issue and are now looking to blame someone else for their ineptitude is par for the course.
