His promise in hiring an OC was based on his already securing the services of Lane Kiffin. He trusts Kiffin and Kiffin wanted to get the hell away from Saban. But Saban, being all powerful, got Kiffin a HC job and screwed up our OC situation.

Who is the best OC in college football? Name one, the best that he should have hired. "Its not Ensminger", is not the correct answer.

Briles, Yurcich, and Freeze are good starting points, and "Its not Ensminger" is absolutely the correct answer. Ensminger, like our HC, should have been WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY down our list for the jobs they currently hold.

Actually, you O sycophants are the snowflakes. Can’t handle the truth that LSU has an incompetent coaching administration.

This isn't even up for debate. You are literally arguing with yourself.

Agreed. Also known as "The Path of Least Resistance". Operating in a very narrow comfort zone at the expense of the football program.

Aleva and F. King operate with total impunity, despite dismantling a championship program. The Board of Supervisors needs to grow a pair.

He's not even close yet. The dude that posted about Johnny Jones needing more time and was the right coach for LSU hit over 900 down votes.

Yes, info straight out of the building before Canada was even hired. Kiffin was coming to LSU from Tuscaloosa until he was offered the FAU job. Saban orchestrated that job offer.

upvotes / downvotes = 0.53 or 53%

That's a hard 'F'....you fail.

It's because many of us remember what it was like pre-Saban......and the current appearance seems to be trending similarly to those times.

The ONLY thing that looks to be stable/good is Aranda. There is a VERY good chance LSU goes 6-6 next year. That'd be the worse season since 1999 or in 18 years. If that happens, I suspect Aranda gets the team.

You really think the current administration will get LSU where it wants/could be?

Honestly?

It's actually kind of strange that we're having the same illogical argument about Steve Ensminger as we had to have about Ed Orgeron...but here we are, right? Honestly...you'd have thought this would not have needed to be spelled out the FIRST time as it's pretty obvious, but to have to do it a SECOND TIME is absolutely fricking infuriating. but...I'm a glutton for punishment, so here goes...

There is no point in providing you with "the name." Two reasons. First is that whatever name anyone gives you, you will automatically shite on it as to why that person s either not "the best" or why they certainly would never ever have considered coming here. Second is is a new variant, in which people then suggest that "the best" is a sliding scale and therefore there is no agreed upon "the best" so it's an un-achievable goal. So...I'm not going to bother.

The correct answer is, just like it was for "Then who SHOULD have been the third option after Jimbo and Herman?!?!?" About 100 other people before you got to Steve Ensminger...that's who. And here's why...

Just like Replacing Miles you start your search with a list of the best football coaches in America from who you think is the very best and start listing them from top to bottom. For the sake of argument, say you go 75 deep. You start with Belechik, then Saban, then maybe Urban, etc. You keep going and going until you get to 75. You go back to the top of the list and take a big fat Sharpie and start drawing lines though the names of guys that will not come. After doing that, you probably get to someone like Jimbo, who is still very high on the list but is the first guy that is a real option. And there's where you start your REAL list. That list becomes maybe 10-15 solid options that you begin to vet and start to reach out to. Sooner rather than later you will find the guy that's high on your list of attainable coaches who will take the giant bag of cash that you're offering to coach our NFL laden roster in front of our 100,000 seat stadium. That's the process...and the list of names between Tom Herman and Ed Orgeron and his sub .500 career coaching record that should have been vetted and contacted and offered is about 15 miles long...and everyone knows it.

All that above? Same thing...just OC's. The list of potential OC's considered much MUCH better options by everyone in football above a man who has not even BEEN an OC since the Clinton Administration is probably even longer than the gap between Herman and Orgeron.**

Astoundingly, LSU has made the EXACT same idiotic hiring move twice in 14 months...and we have fans acting as if we just broke some damn code and are doing something innovative in hiring rather than something clearly idiotic.

**I feel like this continually needs to be said, but I don't dislike Ensminger like I dislike Orgeron. Ensminger ACTUALLY Is a Tiger and by all accounts a good guy and has been a solid coach on staff. This critique of his hiring for this open position is, in no way, a personal shot at the man...just his resume.

What a shitty way of deflecting a point, btw.

"Look...I KNOW I said I was going to hire the best tutor for our kids, honey...but since there is no agreed upon 'best' I just hired the gardener."

Let's not try and accept that there is definitely an agreed upon Top Tier of people in any given profession and then the list goes down from there...let's just pretend that since in may professions "the best" is malleable there is no difference between anyone in that profession.
