SVP's take on Sportscenter a little while ago. He's pretty well liked/respected on this board. He opened talking about Ohio State and then transitioned to LSU..

quote:

But mad fans who are spoiled rotten are far from unique to Columbus, Ohio. LSU's power brokers are reportedly done with Les Miles. It's gonna cost them $15 million to buy him out before the end of the year, and the boosters there don't even blink. Just cut the check and find us somebody who can beat Saban.. cuz there's a lot of those right?

Les has become something of a friend and I say that before I say this: I'll bet you money that whoever's next at LSU doesn't survive 11 years and doesn't go 110-32. I'll take the under on both of those for the limit.

He went on to say that he doesn't blame LSU, just making an observation on the state of college football.

No doubt he's right.

I think people are just frustrated with the offense, and the inability to beat Alabama.

Well duh.

The next coach very likely won't be as successful as Les. He likely won't win a national championship.

I figured SVP would eventually have a take on all of this. What he said didn't surprise me and there's a decent chance he's not wrong.

Les wouldn't go 110-32 if you start counting from this week forward.

He's right and we likely still won't beat AL much, if at all. I'll be happy to eat crow, though.

If people didn't expect SVP to shite on LSU on his show tonight, then you don't know SVP.

And he's not wrong.

If we lose to Alabama and beat Ole Miss and Arkansas this ain't happening. Getting arse raped twice by Arkansas and belittled by Ole Miss, being a leader in penalties, being near the bottom in pass offense, not recruiting or developing a competent QB, hiring rejects to run your offense, defense & special teams and yet having the most players in the NFL points to a serious management problem. People on the outside just see a record. Real fans are tired of the same shite over and over costing us. We're tired and some are becoming apathetic which is worse. Time to take our lumps and let Les go.

But how can you fault the program for at least trying something different?

Why stay stagnant?

Probably right.

It's not the record. It's the inability to fix the offense, the hiring of Steele and BDP. The penalties, the November collapses.

That's what people are tired of. We're wasting talent.

I just don't know what other choice we have at this point. Les isn't coaching much longer anyways, and we need such an overhaul at OC, DC, and ST to where we won't land any assistants that will pack up for 1-2 more seasons.

SVP is probably right, but I bet he would even admit tdecline is very much real. Had Les just used the huge budget we gave him to actually go out and land top assistants, on top of staying out of the offense, we wouldn't have this discussion.

So remove the probably and state definitively that he won't match Les' record. Doesn't change the fact that Les is not able to continue on that clip either. A change is needed, the question is simply when and to act as though recent performance doesn't lean towards sooner rather than later is disingenuous.
