I would be embarrassed to be a coastal fan today.
Do you not recall how Skip would chew a Ref's arse after a bad call. I remember when a Ms State pitcher balked, and threw out an LSU runner on first base.
Skip went out, got face to face with the Ump, and chewed for about a minute.
The next time the Pitcher used the same technique to throw to first, a balk was called.

Skip didn't get in his face for balls and strikes. That is against the rules. And Schnall was warned and his childish temper couldn't restrain himself and got tossed.
Also, i don't recall skip doing this in the championship series.

quote:It hard to "act like you've been there" if you haven't been there. Last time CC was in the CWS, most of these players weren't even in JrHS. Yet, Schnall was addressing the 2016 CC run like it was last year.
you only act that way in desperation

t’s like he thinks he has the right to throw a temper tantrum and everyone should have to put up with it. He basically called himself a child.
was it worth it coach, not to be disrespek' by the ump who hurt your feelings?

Maybe Jay doesn't see everything through the petty bellicose bluster that some of our fans do. Many of you just love to create a villain.

What retard throws a fit over balls and strikes in the first inning of a championship game
My guess is it was a pregame strategy.
1. Get on the umps in the first inning
2. Get the benefit of the doubt on most borderline calls for the rest of the game.

Does he qualify for this?
Key Characteristics of Narcissism:
Grandiosity: A grandiose sense of self-importance, exaggerating achievements and talents.
Need for Admiration: A constant craving for attention and praise, often accompanied by a sense of entitlement.
Lack of Empathy: Difficulty understanding or sharing the feelings of others.
Sense of Superiority: Belief that they are special and unique, deserving of special treatment.
Exploitative Behavior: Taking advantage of others to achieve their own goals.
Arrogance and Haughtiness: Exhibiting haughty behaviors and attitudes.
Fantasies of Success: Often preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, and beauty.
Fragile Self-Esteem: Beneath the surface of grandiosity, narcissists often have a fragile self-esteem and rely on external validation.
NPD is a mental health condition characterized by a pervasive pattern of these narcissistic traits that significantly impacts a person's ability to function effectively in various aspects of life, including work, relationships, and social interactions.

I would expect some poise and self control from the um
I watched his post game press conference to see what he had to say about the situation. He handled it pretty well at that point. He was complimentary of LSU, rightly proud of his own team and stated his case about the ejection. He had plenty time to write his speech.

Was at the Marriott bar around 1130-12 last night. plenty of Coastal folks there: coaches, families, fans, etc. Schnall was at the bar, belly up. He was chatting casually with an LSU fan…talking football, nothing intense.
But at some point it escalated. Not sure what flipped the switch, but a drunk woman asked him if he was “upset about the game,” and that set things off. One of the assistants told her to leave him alone, voices started getting louder, and then the bartender asked the front desk to call the cops before things popped off.
Whole Coastal group clears out. Coaches were visibly heated, telling people to “put the phones down,” getting aggressive about it, they all left the hotel before the cops showed up.
Absolute shite show.
To be clear- Schnall himself didn’t seem out of line at all. But still… what are you doing hanging out at the bar with fans after getting bounced from the national title game? Wild scene.

My favorite part was how he implied he never heard the warning because he couldn’t hear the ump over 25,000 people.

I had this thought as well. If so, it backfired spectacularly.
I concluded though that this isn't the case. If you listen to the explanation and his reasoning, the guy is actually out of control. His "I'm a grown man being spoken to" comment shows that he thinks his perceived disrespect was the most important thing at that moment.
That type of arrogance is off the charts. In baseball, everyone who has ever played knows that sometimes an ump will behave unfairly and you've got to decide to just accept it.

When it comes to judgement calls on balls and strikes, that home plate umpire is God on that field. Schnall got his warning and failed to read the body language. That umpire was not going to lose control of that game.

She asked him if he was upset about the game?
That was kind of a dumb question under the circumstances.
His team had a great year. I will cut him some slack.

This is a microcosm of the game situation.
If you are evaluating the question being asked, or whether or not the LSU fan was out of line, you have completely missed the point.
The real story is that the coach thought it made sense to mingle with opposing fans on gameday at a hotel bar.
I wasn't there, but I assume the lady was out of line (intentionally or not). Nonetheless, the coach is 100% at fault.

Of course. But, she could have Tiger Baited him as well.
You don't get to go drinking on game night with opposing fans and complain about how you were treated.
