Love this idea. Doing away with divisions & each team has 3 protected rivals that they play every year.

Have fun choosing the three protected rivals. Vandy and Kentucky will be courting partners like it's the middle ages.

I can already see it now.

Bama's three scheduled rivalries:

Vandy

Kentucky

It's an interesting method that I don't hate; I just don't see it happening. I hope the SEC grows a pair and makes it 9 conference games because this current pairing system is flawed.

Im trying to think of a way to make it fair but there is always a scenario where one team gets to play Vandy and another has to play UF.

I'd want to put LSU here, but what makes you think Vandy, Kentucky, AND Missouri are ahead of the Iron Bowl and their rivalry with Tennessee?

Taking 6+ years to face each East opponent (except permanent pairing), and then ANOTHER 6+ years to make the return trip is beyond retarded.

This plan is MUCH better than the current system.

Just need to do away with the protected rivalries. Only a handful are true rivalries anyway and those could still be played as ooc games when not on the sec schedule.
The whole league is forced to play an unbalanced schedule to keep 2 true rivalry games- UGA/au and bama/ut.
Rotate home and homes throughout the league, alternate cross division games in some sort of order and you're all set. That's as fair as you can make it.

I like it except LSU should keep Florida and A&M take SC.

Of course we get arguably the 3 toughest protected rivals. Georgia would have a pretty tough slate as well.

Read what they propose. It has Bama's three permanent opponents as Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU

I feel like Arkansas would have to be one of our rivals. I mean we have a trophy associated with the game.

1. Alabama
2. Arkansas
3. Florida or Ole Miss. (Pref. Florida)

So we would have to have Ole Miss too with that logic. And Ole Miss is, without a doubt, a bigger rival than Arkansas.

If you're going to pick Arkansas because of the trophy, you are going to have to choose Ole Miss over Florida - also a trophy.
