Do you think we would ever see Oregon & WVU the same year if we had only 3 OOC games?

Yes. With strength of schedule bearing so much weight with the selection committee you will continue to see marquee kick off games at neutral sites. Schools will load up on big name opponents. This might not be good news for the directional schools though.

You will see ONE of those type games per season, that is true (I did not infer anywhere that this would change). You will NOT see 2 premiere OOC games, especially if we only have 3 OOC with a 9 game conf schedule.

The point was... this proposed schedule is MUCH better than the current and still significantly better than the 9-game conf solution. And it allows for greater options with the OOC schedule as well.

I'm actually pissed that such a perfect solution has been contrived and that we haven't switched to it immediately. How could anyone not want this?

100% this!

Answer: it makes too much sense

It's not a bad thought, but you know Alabama would lose their shite if AU, UT and LSU were their 3 permanent rivals. That would put them having to play 3 of the top 5 programs in the SEC (in terms of all time wins). I don't think any other team in the SEC would be stuck with such a strong permanent group.

However, it's hard to feel THAT much sympathy for Bama seeing as how their mandate to play Tenn each year is a big part of the reason the schedule is set as it is now.

I still maintain that all this bitching about the schedule over the last 10 years is Tennessee's fault. They are the second winningest program in the SEC. If they don't completely fall off the map at the same time Bama rises back up to the top, then we never hear about the inequity. Assuming Tenn. didn't get infected with the suck, then:

LSU would have a tough cross-division opponent in Florida

Auburn would have a tough cross-division opponent in Georgia

Bama would have a tough cross-division opponent in Tenn.

No one would bitch that Bama gets off easy with UT while AU and LSU get stuck battling UGA and UF respectively. Get your shite together Tennessee!!!!

I like it. In mine:
LSU gets Alabama, Ole Miss, and A&M
Alabama gets Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU
Ole Miss gets LSU, Vandy, and Miss State
Arkansas gets A&M, Mizzou, and Miss State
Miss State gets Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Mizzou
A&M gets Mizzou, Arkansas, and LSU
Auburn gets Alabama, Georgia, and Florida

Georgia gets South Carolina, Florida, and Auburn
Florida gets Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina
South Carolina gets Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky
Tennessee gets Alabama, Kentucky, and Vandy
Vandy gets Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Kentucky
Mizzou gets Arkansas, A&M, and Miss State
Kentucky gets Tennessee, Vandy, and South Carolina
