Say what you Want SEC Sucks in Basketball

As much as We like to think we are up there with the big boys history tells us not even close: SEC not so good.
On a good Note LSU is only behind Kentucky and Arky with SEC basketball history. Florida has just had a good run but historically bad so i put LSU above them. Didn't realize LSU was like 3rd in final four appearances in sec
. SEC Basketball = PAC 10 football. One power, Kentucky, and the occasional challenger: Florida or LSU make a push in tourney. PAc-10 football, USC power and the occasional good oregon or Arizona state team make a run. Wish the SEC would make SEC Basketball as fun as football because it sucks filling that void when SEC football is done.

Eh, being good at basketball isn't as big a deal in the South. We can start playing baseball before May unlike a lot of the schools still in the tourny

brought it up because i'm watching two NCAA basetball teams right now that i could give a rats arse about and i don't get any LSU baseball games out here so i guess i'm ranting because if at least one sec was good than i could be cheering for them.

There are other sports in the world besides football...
I'm curious - what basketball conference has won the most national titles in the last 15 years??
I know the SEC has 4 for sure...

Who the hell cares...it's basketball!
I know...it doesn't have to be an either or situation...why not be good in both & etc. etc.
I'm fine with them being good at both, but so long as they're good at football, I'm not really that concerned with mediocricy in basketball. If I was really that into basketball, I'd have gone to UNC, Duke, Indiana or some sports-hell like that. I mean, what's wrong with those people anyway that they care more about basketball than they do football?

This year I can't really argue, and dating back to the beginning, but I think since 1980 I think saying the SEC sucks is a bit strong.
Certainly the SEC isn't in the ACC category in that period since 1980. But in that time period relatively speaking I think the SEC compares favorably with other conferences.
I even think that toward the end of the year the SEC was playing a better brand of basketball and we'll see that improvement manifest itself next year with the SEC being better nationally in hoops.
Can't be much worse huh?

This is just a geographical quirk. Kentucky has far and away the most and was placed in the East, but a better gauge would be to compare Final fours exclusive of Kentucky as they are clearly a league anomaly based upon historical emphasis on basketball. It would look like this
West
LSU 4
Arkansas 6
Miss. St.1
Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabam 0
East
Florida 3
Georgia 1
Tennessee, Vanderbilt & South Carolina 0
Without Kentucky it's West 11 East 4.
West

Recently, the SEC hasn't been very good. However, I think it's a bit much to say the conference "sucks" from a historical perspective.

Just one mans rant and was wondering what everyone else thought on the subject. What makes it so funny is you guys with all the thousands of post get them because of your 2 cents comments like yours.At least when the others make comments that my rant sucks is they usually put a reason why and at least stro gave a sentence on his. i'm done back to work for me

just watchin NC BLAST OU. LSU looked the best against that team. Not so sure LSU really sucked this year, but I agree SEC is not typically a power. HOWEVER, I am not yet ready to say that the new south isn't catching up. This year was little down. UCON is probably going on some sort of probation.
