Say the guy ends up being Johnson from Arizona

What’s the consensus on him? He’s young, talented, and I feel like he hasn’t reached his ceiling, yet. However, the couple of years where he failed to make postseason play kind of concern me.

No recruiting experience in the southeast would definitely worry me. Tennessee tried a similar hire several years ago with the Fullerton coach, and they were terrible

Met his parents in an elevator at a hotel in Lafayette back in 2016 during their regional at ULL. Nice folks.

He is a different kind of coach than serrano. Id be fine with the hire. Guy can recruit

He's my second choice after Vitello.
In order, my list looks like:
Vitello
Johnson
McDonnell
Corbin
Godwin

I think he’s certainly a talented coach, but he’s spent his entire career on the West Coast. No recruiting connections, no experience recruiting the region. Baseball is tough enough on the recruiting front.

Yeah, he just needs another year or 2 in a college weight room and he should be ready for the next step up in his career.
I feel like some of you just make shite up. Creating a fantasy in your head.

Where’s the Johnson noise coming from?
He just doesn’t strike me as an SW hire.

Insiders that post here. Multiple of them have thrown his name in there

From what I’ve seen, he’s generally well-received on here. A few have said pretty adamantly that it’s gonna be Johnson.
I personally would prefer Vitello/McDonnell/Corbin over Johnson. Johnson seems like a risky hire to me

Faint smoke on the SEC Board (I know they know Jack shite, it just struck my curiosity). Apparently some former Vol player sounded very confident on the radio that Johnson is the guy.

We had plenty of those last week saying Bianco too.
Another Woody screen?

I mentioned this earlier. Go look at his coaching resume back to USD.
He’s got to be one of the best talent evaluators, recruiters and talent developers in the country. He’s put out draft pick after draft pick everywhere he’s been

Plenty of coaches have moved to a new region and been successful, it’s a tired/lazy argument against a guy.

He’s had a couple top 10 recruiting classes there. Not easy to do at a place like Arizona.
