I don’t think Toughness is the issue
Well, that's your opinion man.
Well, that's your opinion man.

My good friend's cousin is the RB for Nicholls. He told him LSU was the softest defense he's played this year.

That’s one way to be sure your friends and family never believe a word out of your mouth.

Believe what you want. Go look at Guggenheim's game stats.

and he pointed squarely at Kelly and how he leads the program. His demeanor. How he comes off.
I’ve been saying this since last year, but especially this year it’s become very evident.
Brian Kelly is soft. He does not have what it takes to coach a prestigious football program in the SEC.
I have completely lost faith in Brian Kelly’s ability to turn LSU into a power house program.
Idc about 10 wins, when he loses all the games that matter the most.
Worst part is, Notre Dame fans warned us of this very thing.
If you go back and watch some of his post game press conferences from big games he lost at Notre Dame he sounds like the same broken record we have grown accustomed to hearing after a big loss at LSU.
He is so used to losing big games, he doesn’t even look surprised during or after it happens.
Absolutely infuriating.
I hate it for the fans, and even more so for the players.

Penn isn’t a bad player because he isn’t tough.
he’s fricking slow.
When we leave running backs open out of the back field or all 11 players go with the RB on an options play that’s not a toughness issue

That didn’t translate to many wins for LSU. The tough guys lost 58-3 to Florida in Tiger Stadium. 44-3 to Miami. 42-3 to Florida State.
Understood. You need a head coach who knows how to handle those kind of guys.
Think about Saban. Those 2000-2004 LSU teams had some hard dudes. He kept them focused and productive. I would argue that his dynasty run at Alabama started the moment he figured out how to handle Rolando McLain, who was a freaking psychopath.

So we want to go back to the worst decade of LSU football history?
What a stupid take.
You think this team has good culture?
Posted on 11/11/24 at 9:47 pm to SammyTiger
LSU has a culture problem. Period. That culture problem begins and ends with Brian Kelly. Full stop.
LSU football has talent deficiencies, technique & scheme issues. You can overcome some of these issues if you have the right culture. LSU doesn’t. It’s not even a debate.

again, unless culture is gonna make Penn Faster or our safeties not suck, I disagree.

Definitely better than the shite product in the 90s

You’ve made your point repeated that you don’t understand.
Posted on 11/11/24 at 9:53 pm to Powerman
Even DiNardo was 10-2 in 1996, which is better than Kelly’s 2024.
That this team has a culture problem isn’t even a debate.

in the 1980s and 1990s... Louisiana had guys like Michael Brooks, Michael Calais, Gabe Northern... just to name a few. we need some of that old school toughness in this team because it's lacking.
90s LSU football players mostly sucked. The teams(majority) were soft and awful.
1990: 5–6
1991: 5–6
1992: 2–9
1993: 5–6
1994: 4–7
1995: 7–4–1 (Independence Bowl, tie vs. Michigan State)
1996: 10–2 (Peach Bowl, win vs. Clemson)
1997: 9–3 (Independence Bowl, win vs. Notre Dame)
1998: 4–7
1999: 3–8
Overall, LSU’s record for the 1990s was 54–63–1.

On the defensive front 7, I saw a bunch of players playing NBA defense. They were acting like the were doing something but really not doing anything or initiating contact.
Plus, 3 turnovers by Nuss, the gutless play calling on offense (playing for fieldgoal and not even trying to score before halftime) and our defense not doing anything different from last year, pretty much led to the abortion we witnessed Saturday night.

Alan Faneca, Kevin Faulk, Booger McFarland, Michael Calais, Gabe Northern, David LaFluer, etc
Curly Hallman was an idiot, but there were some exceptional players in the 1990s. By your answer, I know you never spent a day on the Ponderosa.

You keep saying there's a culture problem and that it isn't debatable, what is the specific issue?

If you read this whole thread, watched any recent LSU game and you can’t figure that out, I can’t help you. Good luck. You need it.
