Wilson Alexander

LSU catcher/designated hitter Saul Garza signed a contract with the Kansas City Royals, coach Paul Mainieri told The Advocate. The Royals drafted Garza last year, but Garza turned down their offer to play another season at LSU.

Expected and best of luck to him.

Feel bad for the guy, he was due to make some money this year if it was a normal draft.

Gonna miss Lyn calling his name

Going to really need some bats to come alive. Beloso is the only proven one left.

This gets the roster to 40, meaning there may not be anymore attrition unless new players are added.

Damn
LSU might have actively pursue a hitter or 2 as the summer progresses

The talent is there currently. Some of the incoming players have the ability to be impact bats. Some of the returning players have shown glimpses, but have not been consistent. We are about to find out if Eddie Smith is the real deal.

Gio and Bianco need to start producing

Garza really got screwed because he turned down significant money last year
He needs to play everyday and I’m sure he wasn’t happy about losing catcher job

Doughty needs to turn a corner, and I'm sure he will.
Dugas, Bianco, Gio have all shown glimpses but haven't put it together for an extended period of time yet. We may need two of those three, at least, to do that.
Beloso is going to do his thing.
Milazzo has it going on defensively. Whatever we get from him at the plate is lagniappe. He has shown he can be a decent hitter though, in the limited time we got to see him.
Hampton can be the guy, but who knows how much football will hold him back.
The rest are all total question marks. They have either never seen college pitching yet, or haven't seen enough of it for us to know for sure.

Yeah. I feel bad for him for sure. Such a crappy situation that he had no control over.

Do y’all remember what he turned down last year? I don’t. I’m happy that he’s getting the chance to try his luck in pro ball but I’m so fricking bummed that we don’t get to see him again in purple and gold

He turned down 6 figures
Now he gets 20 and they will pay his tuition to finish school
