Agree. There are times you have to wait and not lose but he played every hole to not lose. 5 was bad luck and he judged the green speed wrong. I feel terrible for him but Imagine what he is feeling. Hopefully his baby girl cheers him up. Get home and spend time with family Sam

For his sake, not ours, I hope the die he is casting of not finishing doesn’t cause him mental gremlins in the future. Sam’s demeanor reminds of Rickie Fowler on the course, too calm and not being able for the most part to close the big opportunities that he puts himself in the mix to win.

Good, but disappointing effort by Sam Burns-- same as on Father's Day.
There's an old saw that's appropriate to the game of golf: don't think, feel. Like Tom Weiskopf a couple of generations earlier, Burns may be the most skilled golfer on the tour. But also like Weiskopf, his head is too much in it. He needs to finish up the tourneys the way he performs days 2 & 3.

I still think Sam will have his day and finish strong the last 18 holes in a tournament later this year.

He puts himself in position a lot at these majors the last couple years. He will break through. This stuff is hard and not only are you competing with players that want it as much as you, but then you are battling yourself and your mind. It is a mental game.
It is frustrating to know that a par round would've won or tied. But you don't know that at the start. After the bogeys I was glad he had the mental toughness to right the ship and par the rest of the round. I was glad to see that.

Learning how to win at golf is not like learning how to play golf. Sam is a great golfer, but he needs to learn how to win at this level. Very few people have. Scottie had it , but now can't seem to reproduce it. Same with Rory and Speith.

That's a tidy day at the office for sure. Sam is pulling seven figure paydays pretty regularly now, he'll break through with a big win soon.

17 was a tough break, hits the middle of the fairway only for the ball to keep rolling into the rough. But, that’s why the majors are tough, you think you hit the right shot only to find the fairway is like playing on pavement.

That is the nature of links golf. 4" one way and it could be stellar.
Was it 5 where he went through the green twice? If he had given a little more thought on those 2 strokes and come out with a par, that would've been great.
I was thinking with the long par save put on on the back 9...maybe 15th or 16th that would give him some momentum.

Scottie has 9 top 5 finishes this season after a season where he had 2 major wins.
Rory is back to back masters champion, not mention more people have walked on the moon than have a grand slam in golf.

Only 250 golfers on PGA tour have won 5 tournaments or more. Sam has won 5 times on tour and this puts him in the elite category for PGA tour players.
Sam learned how to win years ago and is a winner for sure, quit with the negative
