I see that side of it. But the other part of me says, he made his post-Miami decision without any regard for the LSU people who he'd built a bond with for 5 years - so why do I owe him the benefit of the doubt?

DAMN! COACHING is a JOB.
How many have ever switched to another company yet stayed in your same industry... grow up.
Saban and Miles were (past tense) both EMPLOYEES.

CB you are smarter than that.. man... prior to Saban LSU was chronic under achievers... 30 years without a major bowl win.... made LSU a national power again.. period

Why would we let our arch rival into our HOF? Sure he got us a championship years ago but he has also cost us a few.

Hell, Spurrier did exactly what Saban did, and Florida fans don't blast him for it. Now yes, I realize So. Carolina isn't UF's rival, but they're in the same division

Spurrier also went to the NFL before taking the USCe job. It's not like he went from UF straight over to USCe, just like Saban didn't go straight from LSU to Bama.
Both of these coaches left relevant jobs to pursue greener pastures of the NFL then came back to non-relevant positions in their former divisions and made them contenders again.
The penis envy of Bama from our fans is the only sad thing about any of this. Saban is still the GOAT, I just hope our team kicks the $#!t out of his team whenever we play.

so if a great job opens up, a coach shouldn't take it because he once coached at a division rival?

Depends on the circumstances of the departure. In Saban's case yes. In Miles' case no problem.

so if Nick Saban wanted to come to LSU now, you'd say he shouldn't out of loyalty to Alabama?

What if Urban Meyer wanted to come to LSU. Do you say he can't - because he once coached at Florida, who we play every year?

The idea of loyalty to a prior college they coached at being used to hamstring the the career of a coach is just silly and childish.

We hold coaches and athletes to ridiculous standards regarding the decisions they should make for themselves.

We think they need to consider the fans.

Let's look at it another way - how would Bama fans act if the same thing happened to them? Or Florida with Meyer going to Georgia in the same manner? I think it's a human nature deal, not an exclusively LSU deal.

There may be more to it than you think. Some people seem to be pointing out that he did think about us. That he may have even reached out to return but was denied. Not saying I know 100% that's true, but maybe there's more to this than what it seems.

And I think Saban went to the best place to pick off Southeastern talent. It's where he had established his empire. So I'm not going to blame him for going to the place he thought he would be most successful.

And as far as Urban, OSU was his dream job. And he left Florida while a lot of shite was going down. Had no interest going to another SEC school.

But I get it. Him going to Alabama set LSU back a long time and it's easy to take that personal. Sometimes I do hate the man. But I also know he didn't do what he did because he hates LSU. He did what was best for him.

Nah, but would not be surprised if Florida fans were pissed.

It's neither. Just because you don't like a position doesn't make it childish. You seem dumb.

He didn't go back and beat their asses 350 straight times. There's a difference.

For all the love he professes to have for LSU, remember how he left LSU and our fans: the team was in Fla. for the bowl game, he announced it Christmas Eve, and the ONLY press conference he held re leaving LSU was to the Miami press in Fla. He never returned to La. never gave the La. press / LSU fans an explanation. As much hate as many LSU have for him, the Miami press, for yrs afterwards, absolutely detested him with a passion. Rabilais (?) said that a statue of him outside TS is not that far away. All his admirers, do you really want a statute of Alabama's HC outside the stadium?
