I mean he wasn’t great but he looked like he had the spot locked down for a while. Top guys don’t look at schools with you starters.

He’ll UGA got one and he immediately transfered.

I agree with what Sammy Tiger is saying, i.e,. that JJ and our O looked really good against GaTech. It looked like he would be the starter for the next 3 years and hence some recruits may have shied away.

Lemme translate.

Top tier recruits don't often select a school that has a lower-classman who's already starting.

As an outlier, UGA got (Fields) when Fromm had already started as a freshman. Fields has since transferred to tOSU.

Perhaps Tua at Bama is also an exception.

I believe you just forgot, but LSU only lost one player in their top 5 pass catchers of 2007. We had almost the same offense in 2008 in 2007 except Hester, Doucet, and the QB (oh and 1-2 OL I can't recall).

With noodle arm Hatch, pick 6 Lee, and true freshman Jefferson, LaFell had over 900 yards and 8 TDs, Byrd had over 500 yards, and Dickson, our best TE in years, had over 300 yards and 5 TDs. With 5 star Toliver being a sophomore, LSU was loaded. Scott ran for almost 1200 with 18 TDs and Williams ran for over 400. LSU had everything on offense except for a consistent QB. Hell even Crowton was known to do well with developed QBs, and all Perriloux needed was experience.

I believe LSU finishes at worst 10-2 that year with Perriloux. I still think we have a chance to beat Ole Miss and get a rematch with UF in the SECCG.

I also believe that LSU holds off Alabama's dominance had Perriloux stayed. We'd win the SEC West in 2008, and go undefeated in the regular season in 2009. Bama was back down to only decent in 2010 and either we'd have a QB that had been in the system a few years starting for us, or a super talented young guy taking over after LSU has looked excellent at QB for the past 5 years. In 2010 I think LSU beats both Arky and Auburn with good QB play, and likely beat Oregon for the NC. In 2011 who knows how the offense would be with Jefferson not being forced to be a runner and play scared, Lee not being thrown into the fire early, or a newcomer who was actually more talented than both.

Either way you slice it, Miles probably goes his first 9 years (05-13) with 11+ wins, holds Bama's dominance off for a year or two, or hell Saban maybe never just straight dominates, and probably wins 2-3 NCs. I mean is it really that far-fetched seeing what we did with absolutely awful QB play? We were not originally blown out in any of the games I think we reverse with better QB play.

That 2008 Defense if you subtract the Pick Sixes was not as bad as the stats suggest. And with RP, how many drives get sustained and our Offensive snaps go up and defensive snaps go down. If that ream was 8-5 with J. Lee and JJ, I think they are 10-3 with RP at the least. Hell, LSU went toe to toe with Bama that year and lost in OT, that team went 12-0 and was close to winning the SEC vs. Meyer, Tebow and the Gators and playing OU for the BCS.

LSU gave up 24.2 PPG, ranked 9th out of 12. Florida was first with 12.9 ppg. But if you take off the 7 Pick Sixes that J. Lee threw, LSU is around 19.9 ppg and moves to around 6th in the league, but the difference between #1 Florida at 12.9 is not as large.
