Both 2023 and 2025 played 32 games against SEC teams (as of the end of the SEC tournament).

Total runs scored in 32 games
2025 - 189 for an average of 5.91
2023 - 254 for an average of 7.94

Total runs allowed in 32 games
2025 - 138 for an average of 4.31
2023 - 214 for an average of 6.69

Run differential
2025 = 1.60
2023 = 1.25

I admit I was surprised when I saw the difference in run differential. I knew the runs scored in 2025 were much fewer, but the surprise was the much larger difference in the runs allowed.

As a whole, the pitching (and defense) has been plenty good enough to win a championship. Let's just hope the bats get hot at the right time.

It's like the team is completely different and the style of play has to mirror that.

Wow!

Pitching and defense is this team's strength. Specifically the 1-2 punch of Anderson/Eyanson.

LSU is nothing special without those 2.

You stumbled across something that no poster would ever want to admit. As good as 2023 was, that team had its fault. Specifically the pitching staff. They were awfully inconsistent until the final couple of weeks. And had it not been for Riley Cooper and Hurd getting his shite together as well as Ty Floyd not going mental every time a coach called a time out, that team would’ve been toast. Riley Cooper was the MVP of that team. And it wasn’t close.
The round man on the mound was “the man in the arena“.

2023 the pitching got hot during the tournament run. Can the 2025 hitting do the same?

Cooper should have won the CWS MVP. I appreciate someone else saying it.

You’re welcome. I said it then too. He was such an awesome leader for that staff. It is what you get with an older player. Every year at LSU, he did the same thing down the stretch. The hotter the weather, the better he became.

I mean would any team be anything special without top 2 pitchers?

What I mean to say is they are the BEST 1-2 punch of college pitchers. At least IMO.

Every team has a top 2. LSU has the best top 2.

The potential is there.

In SEC games, Jones .984 vs .805, Milam .760 vs .726, and Braswell .830 vs .707 all have a much lower OPS than they did last season.

Most of these clowns on here know nothing about college baseball history. They have had some pretty weak offensive teams win it all and/or be top 8 seeds. Good pitching beats good offense any day of the week and we have top 10 staff in the nation

Milam, Hernandez, Braswell really have been surprises defensively but huge disappointments offensively. I think Milam is just in a sophomore slump but we have to get better at 3rd this off-season.

On top of that, all the other top teams have issues also. It seems like a lot of people on here that shite on us only watch LSU.

We’re a built for small ball team with a coach still coaching a big ball platform.

Got to be able to adjust to your strengths and maximize that for the run.

An analogy is an amateur golfer playing each shot for that beautiful driving draw he hit twice in his life instead of resigning himself to his natural fade and managing his game appropriately.

Bro a guy hitting.230 with 2 hrs on the year isn't shîtting on anyone. Its common sense thats awful on any team in the country. We got one of the most expensive rosters in college baseball and shouldn't just accept that everyone else has holes and not be somewhat critical of ours. Nobody is saying LSU cant win it all with this team but I don't think no body would be suprised if we lost 3-1 n 2-0 in the regionals either.

They were bad until game 2 of the Regional. The pen was terrible the last two series of the season and we lost in our opener in the SECT with Skenes on a pitch restriction and not at his best.

To be honest, they weren’t really called upon to be good in a tight spot until we got to Omaha. But they sure delivered when it mattered.
