When the offense went to outside zone and the stretch this helped the running game.

The guards have to play better.

The 46 yard run by jones was an outside zone.

Just curious. If it shuts down the run, why don’t more people use it?

It’s the fact more people don’t use it that actually makes it difficult to play against.

Kiffin said it before the game. It’s like preparing to defend a triple option team in today’s game.

I’m guessing it’s weaker against pass plays?

Running against a 5-5-5 is even harder.

Because it would be a penalty. Can’t play with 13

because it is not meant to do that on all runs. just A gap. it is meant for putting speed on the field and defending the pass in constant nickel with LB's and safeties who can rush/blitz. it is only a 6 man front. not 7 or 8.

the goal is try and limit runs to at least get to a 3rd and 4 or 5 where they want to pass. you can us run blitzes out of it tho.

Then we should stop running through the A gaps that don't exist.

Yes.

But, it’s a 3-3-5 and there were some 3-4 looks

yes stack or bear is meant to limit A gap runs with minimal people in box, whilst always staying in a nickel D built for speed to defend pass and rush passer off edge. have to spread out and gash the middle or beat them to the edge and block their speed guys with run plays. or straight up beat them with passing.

3-3-5 La Tech runs.

Yep. That’s two weeks in a row of subpar guard play. It was worse this week than last, but I do think some of that can be chalked up to the 3-3-5.
