I was flipping back and forth to UT/OSU game. I didnt study what was going on with run blocking but it was terrible for 3 qtrs.
What was LATech doing? Was it a scheme or were they just motivated?

They run a 3-3-5 and move around a ton pre snap. You never know who’s coming or who will be where at the snap. It’s tough on the OL to figure out who their assignment is.

LSU was being stubborn when they were stacking the box with the 3-3-5 and ran into it anyways.
I'm not sure exactly what would have beat that defense but it felt like they knew when we were running and when we were passing.
getting the ball on the perimeter seemed to work for us in the run game but it took us until the 3rd quarter to figure that out.

A mobile quarterback and running to the edges

When they were interviewing Leavitt after the game they asked him if the 3-3 front threw them off and he admitted that it did and mentioned that tech had a good defensive scheme.

Our IOL too slow to get to the double team and out on the second level against Tech's 3-3-5. It really starts and ends there. Tech makes it tricky with twists and stunts plus having really fast LBs. Our guards and center just flat out didn't get it done.

Tech has some dudes on defense. They have that LB that transferred from LSU and he gave us fits last year. And running up the middle with 9 in the box didn’t help. I just think Kiffen wanted y to keep it as vanilla as possible and not show some wrinkles he will against OM next week.

Moore has been really really bad snapping the damn ball for some reason

Exploit the edges with run and 4 vertical pass designs
What this exposed is weakness of preparation. This is on OC and O line coach.

Our OL outside Seaton isn’t talented enough to just line up and handle anyone. We need to be well prepared to understand the opponent’s schemes and have a detailed game plan to exploit personnel and schematic weaknesses. I don’t think we had that against LA Tech, and I think Tech was able to confuse and disrupt a lot of what we tried in the first half as a result.
I frankly think the staff’s focus has been almost entirely on Clemson, Ole Miss and ATM for this early part of the schedule. And rightly so.
