You can't deny that the nepotism thing is weak as shite.

If it wasn't for Mary, and her bullshite decisions on October 4, 2014, LSU never gets boat raced by Auburn. Harris doesn't hurt his ankle, Beckwith/Jefferson don't drop that interception, and Welter STILL gets benched.
I'm glad Roy King is now being held accountable for his putting her in that position.

What Roy King does to his own children is his own business, IMO.

Total bullshite. No matter your opinion on him as a director he doesn't deserve this. LSU is run by the biggest bunch of idiots I've ever seen. We need to clean house sooner rather than later.

The last piece of the dream team is gone. RIP to an era.

I'm not really sure who to believe at this point. Based on recent embarrassments by the administration I'd like to think the LSU higher ups done are being dumbasses again, but I don't want to jump to conclusions until I've seen all the facts.

Let the reallocation of funds begin all this was, was a power play by the former director of bands

Go to Wikipedia and read how F King Alexander came to get the LSU job.
Pair that with everything that's happened in the last 6 months, and it's enough to make your head explode

That was my last game as a band member. Good times.

Didn't everyone bitch about King and the band for the past few seasons? I though TD wanted this to happen.

I would watch half of the tubas playing on their phones in the middle of rehearsal and nobody taking it seriously. If you're a band director of a major college band program, you need to do a better job than that.
Wanna know a secret? That has been the norm for way longer than Roy has headed up the band...

Oh, well. There's always next year.

Who has the authority to fire F King Alexander?

The band degraded massively with him at the helm. The quality of band from, say, 2011, put this year's band to shame. That's pretty much true of almost any band from the 2000's as well. The last couple of years have been horrible in comparison to what it used to be.
The scholarship money available for Tiger Band students was basically cut in half just about the time Roy took over the band, and they were no longer able to offer out-of-state tuition waivers. I guess a lot of this can be blamed on general money problems with higher ed in Louisiana. But there is no way such cuts would not have affected the quality of the band.
The students in the band bust their asses, and every time I have seen them, either in rehearsal or in game day situations, I've been impressed with their class and professionalism. And I say that as a former high school and university band director who has been around a LOT of big time programs in my time. But, again, if your scholarship funding is drastically cut, you're going to lose out on some really good players, and that's going to affect the quality.
Having said that, the quality of the LSU band is still very good in comparison with other SEC, ACC, and Big Ten bands I've been around. Is it the best? Probably not...but it's still in the upper echelon.

And maybe now they will consider playing actual lsu tradional band songs instead of coming up with new bullshite
And, of course, other people complain that they don't play enough new music. There is no way to win. Students are not the only people in the audience, and some of the older music some of you complain about appeals to other segments of the audience. You look at the play list of ANY major college band, and you'll find a mix of old and new music.
And, for what it's worth, the decision to omit Neck from the Tiger Band playlist was not made by Roy, as has been pointed out on numerous occasions.
Posted on 4/19/16 at 7:35 pm to chipdouglas96
Maybe now they will permanently get rid of playing "neck" as well.

Be very careful about Roy King's attorney's comments. What she says doesn't make sense. Looks to me like the administration handled this one fairly well - for a change.
Stay tuned...I think you'll be changing your mind on this as the facts come out.
