. If OSU had beaten ISU, do you believe that OSU is a better team than Bama, and that OSU would beat Bama?

I don't know, but would give them the benefit of the doubt since winning out is the sign of a champion. Its possible and would give more value to a number two vote. I definitely think they would be worthy of playing for the championship. Unfortunately, they lost to a rather poor team.

Finding a way to win all of your games is a pretty big deal. So yes, it would make a difference. Losing to Iowa State is also a fairly huge mistake for a potential NC to make in a year full of contenders for the second spot.

I'd say it was no more of a mistake to drop a game to ISU on the road in 3OT than it was for LSU to drop a game to UK in 3OT on the road in 2007. LSU was able to use the argument of being conference champion and a tough schedule despite two losses in 2007.

Certainly OSU can boast beating more ranked teams than Bama as well as beating more bowl eligible teams than Bama. A victory over OU would give them a conference title. I'd go as far to call the loss to ISU a fluke. Sure, it's a loss, but it was also on the road after learning of a tragedy that impacted OSU athletics. FWIW, ISU is bowl eligible.

Alternatively, Bama really has no excuse for losing to LSU at home despite being a favorite to win that game. Certainly their fans and the media want to make excuses for them, which is what has helped to keep them in the title picture.

That is a flip flop from your "vote a team 2nd if you think they are the 2nd best team" statement.

Now, you are moving to a "who is more deserving" argument for rankings.

You need to make up your mind.

No where near relevant. Different year, different circumstances. LSU caught some breaks that year.

There are numerous teams that had the opportunity to keep the rematch from happening.

But our win against the already #2 team doesn't mean anything?

Losing at home...or losing an away game?

I think your opponent has more weight than where the game was played.

I disagree. We should not have to beat them twice-especially since we won at their place.

The system would need to be changed to prevent a rematch. Not everyone feels the way you do.

I agree with him.

Every LSU fan who is honest with themselves knows what would happen in an LSU Oklahoma State match up. The same can be said for a Bama Oklahoma State match up. Oklahoma State would be physically dominated by both teams. We all know who the top 2 teams are. If people don't want to see the match up again that's a different story but an LSU/Bama vs Oklahoma State would get ugly for the Hokies.

The point is that such a leap isn't unprecedented in the BCS.

The system is flawed, and I totally agree. My point all along is to blame the system if you have an issue and hope for some kind of systematic changes that prevent this from happening.

But that is not going to happen this year, so we need the voters to manipulate the system.

I think most people still want to see the two best teams in the NCG. Not all, but most.

We can all talk bravado and shite, but who really wants to face Bama again when we've already beat them at their house? They are damned good. We've already beaten them.

RTS, we have 2 conversations going on within this thread. I think we agree for the most part, but I say let the voters give us some affirmative action!

Or the voters take it into their own hands.

Unless OSU destroys OU, I doubt this will happen. Possible though, but not likely.

I agree. But I feel as though we have earned the right to play someone other than Bama.

I agree. The system isn't set up like that however.

quote:

We won "the Game of the Century" at Tuscaloosa. It is not easy to beat a good team like Bama twice, especially if we suffer any injuries this weekend while Bama rests. This doesn't pass the smell test.

Many different teams had the chance to change the fate of the NCG, and couldn't do it.

like voters deciding after conf championship weekend that accomplishments trumped who you thought was the hypothetical 'better team' the week before.

If they were undefeated, they would be a better team, obviously. Both Bama and OSU lost. OSU unfortunately lost to a dog.

I think you do know, you just won't admit it. I can tell from your posts that you believe Bama is a better team than OSU regardless of whether OSU beat ISU or not. But if OSU had beaten ISU, you would vote them #2 because they deserve it. Thus, you don't really believe that the BCS puts the two best teams in the NC game. The BCS puts the two most deserving teams in the NC game, and you know it.

He doesn't even realize the inconsistencies in his opinions. He truly believes he thinks they all support each other. They do not.
