I sincerely got emotional reading that post.

Just be thankful for the time you have/had with your dad and family.

One of my favorite sayings: "Don't be sad it's over. Be glad it happened."

God bless you and your family.

He was a big SOB for a WR back in those days, when lineman didn't weigh much more. Too bad McClendon basically hated passing the ball.

Sorry for your loss. Nice tribute.

I was prepared to type out a reply and then I read tigahlovah’s post.

Praying for you and your entire family. Pretty sure my FIL(Ronnie Wiggins) knew your dad…he graduated from WMHS in ‘66 and played a year at LSU before transferring to La.Tech.

Thx for sharing

He lived a good life and proudly left behind his family

I had to eulogize my father 3.5 years ago, and putting those thoughts and memories together did more for me than I could ever have imagined.

Thank you for the wonderful tribute. As wahoocs said, I too had to eulogize my Dad about 3 years ago. Sitting down and putting together the things I spoke about was really helpful for me. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. But, I am eternally grateful to my Lord for the times I did have and all the Godly things he taught me. (And all the LSU football games he took me to where he lost his voice so bad he could hardly preach the next day - always was the worst after an Ole Miss game — but I digress).

I have had the privilege to know many athletes from your Dad’s time period at LSU and, I can tell you, they were mettled men!!

My prayers go out to you and your family. If he played on the 1966 team, I saw him play because that was the first year I started going to the games as an eight year old.
