maybe not consiously but there is a lot of LSU fans that are so enraged that saban left LSU and ended up at bama and having the greatest success in the country that they blame miles for not having the same success. never mind that no other coach in america is either or that saban didn't while he was here either. if saban had gone to michigan or a school outside of the SEC LSU fans would like les miles a hell of a lot more.

Reveille: "Opinion: LSU fans need to let go jealousy, hatred of Nick Saban"

2 of the 3 National Championships for Saban consisted of:

Playing a team with a backup QB.

Given a 2nd shot at a team that they've lost to earlier in the season after finishing 2nd in their division in the conference.

Funny how everyone brings up the luck of Miles, but never for Saban.

+1 million.
No one ever talks about Saban's humiliating last-second defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory LSU games against UAB, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Iowa, nor his "clock management skills" in those games, and others.
No one ever mentions Saban's very lucky or fortuitous victories against Alabama in '00, Kentucky in '01 and '02, Ole Miss in '03, Arkansas in '04.

Also, Miles has only coached a few games at LSU where they were routed and had no chance to win:
Georgia in '05, Florida and Ole Miss in '08, Bama in the BCSCG - 4, in 9 years.

Meanwhile, Saban had embarassing lopsided losses while at LSU to: Va.Tech, Texas, Florida, Florida (again), Gerogia, Auburn, and Alabama - 7,
In 5 years.

And Saban had ONE year at LSU with less than 3 losses, Miles has had FIVE.

Oh, wait, according to MNC, that was because Saban built the program and Miles had to do absolutely nothing to keep it going.

because Miles would not have made all if those bonehead mistakes without Saban.

You people are as delusional about why we don't like Miles as you are about him being a great coach. It has little to do with Saban and mostly to do with the thing Snoop Dogg rapped about the year he took over as coach.

But please, I'd love to hear your explanation as to why he didn't call a timeout against Ole Miss, yet another signature bonehead move. And if your answer is "it was over. Who cares," then your a pussy quitter and kind of an idiot.

He has had a handful of clock management issues in over 8 years here. Please show me a coach who is perfect.

Look the bottom line is wins. The man's record speaks for itself. He runs a good program, is a positive reflection on the school, is about to be the winningest coach in the history of our school, etc. I could go on forever.

I'd take Miles over Stoops, Mack Brown, Richt, Sumlin...countless others who you would probably rank higher, but whose resumes do not equal Miles'.

I don't give a flying flip why you "don't like Miles" or whether you think he's a "great" coach or not.

Anyone can think whatever they have a want to.

But Miles has a "great" record of achievement at LSU whether or not your personal bias allows you to admit it or not and that's all that counts.

Anyone too emotionally distressed by a few screw ups in a 8+ yr career to note that LSU is having the greatest period of success in LSU history shouldn't be calling other names but should be seeking mental health treatment.

I don't like Bama and Saban because they're sore losers and had trouble accepting the fact that they lost AT HOME and it cost them the SEC and should have cost them a shot at an NC. They lost to their divisional rival who went undefeated. Too bad. You shouldn't get a do-over. They lack sportsmanship and a sense of fair play.

Reveille is pulling the ESPN business model. Right stuff to get people fired up. Negative publicity is better than being ignored.

Maybe, but this article has a good point. I'm not riled up by it because I read it and think, "Well that's obviously true, and you'd have to be a goddamn idiot to disagree with this article's main theme."

While I agree that he won't ever come back why would you thank God that he didn't and won't come back? Do you hate winning national championships

Doesnt have anything to do with championships. I think it takes a higher caliber of a person, and coach to actually go out on the sidelines of a game- and talk to the players like they are trying to learn something from the game they are playing. All too often you see saban on the sideline screaming "what the frick are you doing?". His temper tantrums are more about winning than teaching, and coaching. He treats these young men as another pay day to him.

Saban runs a tight ship. His teams are focused and disciplined, and he expects excellence. Is he a miserable excuse for a human being, maybe so, but don't act like Miles is somehow superior to Saban in moral character. Try telling that to players on his last team at Okie State. When he should've been preparing them for the bowl game with Ohio State, he was planning his escape to BR. I'd be willing to bet that Jarrett Lee's parents don't think too highly of Miles either, after the screw job he gave their son. You don't like when they show Saban blowing his top on the sideline, well I cringe when the the cameras show Miles sticking his finger in his ear, picking his nose, eating grass, walrus clapping, and generally looking like he's lost as a goose. I know that Saban isn't coming back to LSU, and I don't hate him for leaving for the pros. I hate the fact that he's coaching our most hated rival to greater success than he ever had with us, and we got stuck with a 4.5 million dollar a year version of Elmer Fudd.

It seems to me by reading all the posts by the pumpers and the "negatigers" ( reality observers, IMO) that it is unquestioned that Saban is a better coach by both camps. What I can't understand is how someone who is a LSU fan can accept the concept of being second best and be satisfied with always being a runner - up as status quo. If it is the consensus that as long as Saban is AL's coach and Miles is LSU's coach, it would seem that we all should urge Tiger nation to actively seek an alternative arrangement whereby LSU is not second best and only winning 8-10 games. Instead some of us embrace the current situation and are happy that we are locked into a multi-year contract with the current sitaution. I, for one, do not believe that Saban is God, would not erect any false idols (statutes) in his name and do not accept that Saban's accomplishments at AL could not be replicated by another coach at LSU. But, it should be obvious to everyone that Miles is not capable of bringing LSU to the same level as a Saban coached AL. If we don't push to change the current situation, we will have to live with it. Whatever you want to call me, I am not satisfied with that future.
