re: We are going to find out a lot about Les Miles next Saturday vs A&M

If you haven't figured out what Miles is all about so far, next Saturday is not going to change your opinion :booboo:
re: INTERIM FEEDBACK - On a scale of 1 -10, where are you on Miles
Posted by The 21st Group on 11/14/13 at 11:42 am to CajunPhil
CajunPhil, "8 and will improve".
Miles is 60 years old, been at LSU for 9 years and been coaching for almost his entire professional career. What you now see, is what it is. My problem is that I assess him in the 6-8 range, but we are paying for a 10. I believe that Saban is a better coach today than he was when he was at LSU, but after five plus years in the SEC, he's formulated his "process". I would not expect a similar formulation from Miles. I believe, if we are to return to top five category, we need a change. Switching coordinators, firing the OL coach or other suggestions posted on this site are indicators that the HC has made poor decisions in the past. A tiger does not change his stripes especially after he's 60.

tigerjunior, "with us losing so many in the draft"
This excuse has been used often for our lack of performance this year. FSU lost eight defensive players last year to the draft. The mark of a successfully managed program is to reload or back up talent through personnel decisions and recruiting. Last year's starters should have had comparable talent on the sideline considering the financial resources that are invested in our systemj . Our defensive play this year is not attributable to what we lost, but what we have. To continue to make excuses, instead if identifying weaknesses, will result in the current pattern of our slide.

This thread proves how far we have declined in just two years. At least, we are not a team with a losing record? Sad. :wah:
re: If Miles left, who would you want to coach LSU?

Go after Bobby Petrino before another major program hires him from Western KY. I realize that it's not an ideal hire for the obvious reasons, but I sincerely believe he could do a better job as long as he stays off of motorcycles

slackhouse, "This game was lost on those 2 plays"
Sorry pumpers, I couldn't resist. We were tied at 17 around 12 minutes left in the third quarter after the two fumbles, but that's why we lost. The game adjustments at half time combined with the three scoring drives and complete shut down of our offense after our field goal had nothing to do with the beat down, right. You guys are entertaining.

I want to now hear from the pumpers who know football...LOL

This will be my last post on TD this season. To all the pumpers, the obese, gap-toothed AL fan on You Tube predicted the final score to be 38-14, Alabama. He was much maligned by all of us, but apparently he is more knowledgeable about the game than the vast majority of the pumpers.
Having Mettenberger contine to drop back passing when the game was out of reach and knowing that AL DL and LBs were going to tee off on him was pathetic and quite frankly a risk of losing our starting QB for the rest of the season.I will never forget the scene of Mettenberger crawling toward the sideline after the last sack. When he threw his helmet, I believe he was angry that the coaches placed him in such a sitaution. But I also respect the fact that he had the fortitude to walk off the field.
The announcer knew that AL was going to fake a punt, but apparently our coaching staff was clueless. The half time adjustments by AL were apparent in the second half.
In closing, as long as Miles is our coach and Saban is AL, LSU football will be good, but declining and we can forget about contending for championships. Please, Texas, hire him

DustyDinkleman, I am not a sunshine pumper so I guess you would label me a negatiger. However, if the Tigers win, I will not be upset but rather elated.
That said, if by some chance there is a different outcome, I believe that the pumpers will be "dumbfounded" and I will be upset but not surprised.
I look forward to the comments by the pumpers either way it goes after the game. I am quite amused by your thought processes

Box Geauxrilla, "Doesn't he have anything better to do right now?"
Are you kidding. It's called PR and promotion. I'd be willing to bet that his agent had something to do with his appearance on GameDay. It will help drive the stakes up in the bidding war that AL and TX will be engaged over the next couple of months. Personaaly, I'm pulling for TX. They have more money and it would be divine justice for the Bammers to eat the same medicine that they have been dispensing for the last four -five years

Tiger In Dawg Country, "This is a trap!"
I've been following LSU football since the Bear Bryant vs. Charlie Mac series. The Bear would state before a LSU game that if he had the talent that LSU had that he would not even practice the week before they played him, And then he would come into Tiger Stadium and beat us like a drum. It's called reverse physchology as practiced by the Bear. Who, BTW, is still my favorite all time coach and I am a LSU fan, but he was a special person.

re: Reveille: "Opinion: LSU fans need to let go jealousy, hatred of Nick Saban"
Posted by The 21st Group on 11/7/13 at 6:15 pm to LSU-MNCBABY
It seems to me by reading all the posts by the pumpers and the "negatigers" ( reality observers, IMO) that it is unquestioned that Saban is a better coach by both camps. What I can't understand is how someone who is a LSU fan can accept the concept of being second best and be satisfied with always being a runner - up as status quo. If it is the consensus that as long as Saban is AL's coach and Miles is LSU's coach, it would seem that we all should urge Tiger nation to actively seek an alternative arrangement whereby LSU is not second best and only winning 8-10 games. Instead some of us embrace the current situation and are happy that we are locked into a multi-year contract with the current sitaution. I, for one, do not believe that Saban is God, would not erect any false idols (statutes) in his name and do not accept that Saban's accomplishments at AL could not be replicated by another coach at LSU. But, it should be obvious to everyone that Miles is not capable of bringing LSU to the same level as a Saban coached AL. If we don't push to change the current situation, we will have to live with it. Whatever you want to call me, I am not satisfied with that future.

alumni95, I'm not the pumper here. Overall, AL has won the NC three out of the last four years, the record against LSU is 4-3, they have won the last two and the odds makers have us a a double digit underdog for Saturday. I am not sure what you would consider as dominant, but, if you believe that LSU and AL are on the same level, I fear that you are living in the past. Join me in praying that Texas out bids AL for Saban's services after this year. If not, we're in for a long ride of being somewhere in the middle of the pack as I believe that Saban hurts our program almost as much as he helps AL. Don't get me wrong. I would love for LSU to pull an upset this week end, but that very word "upset" evidences the change of landscape for our series. Friendly advice, don't bet on the Tigers without the points.

Cwills684, "So LSU has to beat Bama and the Refs to have a good recruiting class. Who else in the country has to be held to such a high standard"
Probably no one, but who else in the SEC region has had Saban, as a LSU coach, recruit in their state and build a network with the high school coaches. He is taking top LA talent from LSU that previously would have come to our program. If he continues dominance over the series, it will get worse. This is not necessarily a "high standard" just recruiting reality. Accept the fact that the more success AL has, the less LSU will achieve. When AL hired Saban, LSU was the most dominant team in the SEC. They hired Saban to change that situation. In order to build AL's program, he also had to undermine LSU's. It has been a deliberate process by Saban, My only hope is that Texas wins the bidding war which has now been launched by his agent. AL will either have to dig much deeper into its pockets or see their saviour defect and leave (along with his statute, I would imagine, unless they'll keep a statute erected to a guy coaching another team ) to rebuild UT's program. Most telling was the AL Chancellor's statement that Saban was the best investment AL has ever made. Says it all.

The size, speed and physicality of the respective lines won't change between now and Saturday. It ain't about the Xs and the Os, but the Jimmys and the Joes. Saban has been outrecruiting us and it is beginning to be apparent.
