I'd rather a mt rushmore of each sport

Football:
Cannon, Casanova, Faulk, Les

Baketball:
Shaq, Pistol, Petit, Daddy Dale

Baseball:
Skip, Nola, Walker, Morris
not sure on Nola or McDonald

Partial credit for 1958. Screwed out of his chance for 1969. 18 seasons as HC with a 69% record, proved that long-term success at LSU was very possible.

137 wins - which is more than any two coaches (not named Les Miles) combined and more than any three coaches not named Les Miles or Bernie Moore combined.

That's why.

Pete Maravich is an obvious choice given the insane records he established. Pat Henry and Skip Bertman would be hard to omit given the championships they won. The fourth person would be difficult since the achievements would have to be deserving, and there are many with deserving achievements. I'd probably go with Billy Cannon since he was an integral part of a national championship in 1958, and he won the Heisman Trophy recognizing him as the outstanding college football player of 1959.

Metry - I like your inclusion of a lot of the old guys. I agree it's too soon for Miles. Dalton Hilliard is one of my favorite players of all time. I also like the effort you spent into picking non "big three" athletes.

However, did Kevin Faulk steal your girl or something?

Any answer other than:

Maravich, Cannon, Shaq, Skip

is just silly. Lol to someone who would put a coach who won a single national title (Saban or Miles) over someone who one 5. Have to include the only Heisman winner in LSU history. There is no bigger sports alumnus than Shaq in terms of post-LSU success and name recognition. Maravich's records will never be broken.

I am not even a baseball fan and I strongly disagree. A championship in one of the 3 major sports is impressive and incredibly difficult. Even if you think a single football championship trumps a single baseball championship, do you really think a single football championship trumps 5 baseball championships?
