Exactly. After they crucify LSU in general, they’ll move to the female coaches…especially Mulkey. “How can you support this? How do you look your team in the eye?” And it’s a fair point. Also, look for them to go after any big name football coach who considers going to work for such a guy. And again, it’s a fair point.

From all I’ve read, Ausberry is well known and well respected by other AD’s around the country. We would likely hire/promote an assist AD from somewhere else after a long search. This settles the athletic department quickly. We could’ve done a lot worse.

I don’t like this at all. Just screams unqualified and the convenient hire.

Verge is not making the decisions. The money makes the decisions.

Blah blah blah, bury your head in the sand. It’s a horrible look for LSU and piles on the Landry fiasco. Most places would have fired Verge for what he did. We send him to sensitivity training and promote him to AD with no search. And say what you want and minimize the consequences of a negative news article, negative press. But if enough media gets involved exposing what happened LSU looks bad. It’s avoidable, but LSU is inviting it in. And I hate to see it.

The good ole boy political lackey network officially has a stranglehold on LSU athletics again. Get ready for a return to the 90's.

Sadly, we might be headed that way.
Nevertheless, it was an epic time for LSU Baseball.

Can someone explain to me what makes this such an awful hire? Genuine question.
"Ausberry violated LSU’s own policies and potentially broke a federal law when he failed to report former LSU football player Drake Davis’s admission to Ausberry that Davis punched his girlfriend. Davis told Ausberry that Davis hit his girlfriend, who played tennis for LSU, via a text message in April 2018, according to USA TODAY. USA TODAY also reports that another woman — not the tennis player — tried to tell Ausberry in 2018 of dating violence she experienced with Davis. It has been the athletic department’s policy to keep complaints about sexual assault and domestic violence concerning athletes inside the athletic department instead of reporting to them LSU’s Title IX office as required, according to USA TODAY. Ausberry told The Advocate that Davis recanted his previous admission of hitting his girlfriend when Ausberry called him immediately after receiving the text. Ausberry said this was a factor in his decision not to report the incident to the police or university authorities, though, he said, with hindsight, he should have made a different call. Police only found out about Davis’s text to Ausberry months after it was sent, when Davis was being investigated in another domestic violence incident involving the tennis player and law enforcement searched Davis’s phone. The violence between Davis and his former girlfriend had escalated. He strangled her a few months after the text to Ausberry, and Davis eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of battery and violating a protective order. He has since left LSU and been arrested again for alleged violence against another dating partner, though that case hasn’t gone to court yet."
Not only is that slimy as hell, it's horrible decision making and leadership. This is the individual who is now in charge of the athletic department at LSU. He will bow to Landry's every whim.

This feels like big ole circle jerk.

I agree...I think in short order people are going to screaming for Woody back. I don't get what he did so wrong to end up with his assistant who's never been an AD?
Posted on 11/4/25 at 10:38 pm to Imber
Well written and exactly why I'm against Verge being a leader at LSU. His morals, judgment or both are piss poor. On top of the fact his on son's wouldn't play for LSU...the same school he was assistant AD, now THE AD. Yeah I know one son is on the team.

What a lazy hire, the guy who covered up rape at LSU. Next we are gonna get the most underwhelming hire for HC, sad we could have really turned this around instead of going this most Louisiana based path imaginable
LSU just keeps setting the bar lower and lower. What a disgrace politics makes this university.
This dude hired Trent Johnson.. that in a nutshell

The state and its institutions are run like a fricking carnival sideshow, and I’m sick of it.
It gets harder to justify living here every single day.
I will continue to hope my children leave and never come back, after my parents and in-laws are gone I’ll move to wherever they are. It breaks my heart to say that but unless some major changes happen I hope my kids break the cycle of being trapped here to care for family

He couldn't even get his son to play for LSU. Son went to Notre Dame.

So a parent should force his kid to go to a school he doesn't want to go to?
He has 2 sons who were exposed to LSU sports teams their entire lives. They went to U High.
This has been discussed ad nauseum over the years as well as recently.
One is @ Notre Dame.
The other went to Auburn and transferred back to LSU.
He is #27 and a redshirt.
