I think you stated this well. I can’t hate on this guy, but college sports fans really are seeing a steady decline. The colleges understand it Is big business. There is more and more politics, selective rule enforcement, and a sports media pushing their own agenda. So much for the purity of college athletics.

That is 100% how I feel about this.

Why is it though that Alabama(Saban) can keep these kids longer than we can. He does this consistently.

Many on this board tolerate these guys until they stop being of service to them. The second that ceases, then you hear what they really think of these athletes.
Why do we glorify athletes over every day Janes and Joes when all they do is play a game that we like to watch? Our fandom is not determined by how much we pretend to care about people we do not know.
We are LSU fans, they are LSU players. Our relationship is mutually beneficial. They were never in our "service" and the use of that language says much about you.

Don't take a team scholarship if you're only going to think about yourself two years later. Focus on the draft out of highschool. fricking his team over.

Truth
Let’s not mix words here- Lamar Chase quit on this team. He will quit on whatever NFL he goes to
Ps- Mis- spellings are intentional

This is not a good trend I see developing. Come play for 2 years, build your rep, then quit on your team to “get ready for the draft”. Becoming very basketball like.

College Football will eventually just be a developmental league for the NFL and have no interest in providing education to young athletes. These Colleges would rather go that route than lose the money when players get the option to head straight to the NFL. This is going to be interesting because not all athletes will be paid the same and I can hear the whining when little Ricky ends up out on the street getting shot because he got let go a week into camp.

So is this gonna be the norm now going forward? Play a couple season then sit out? I am not knocking chase. He did everything u can do. But wonder if this will be what players will do now. Sucks.

I completely understand that he’s too good to still be in college, but the fact that he’s taking advantaged COVID to skip his junior season, when it in fact had nothing to do with COVID, just rubs me the wrong way.
How is he taking advantage of COVID?

Not happy about it, but I understand his situation. He's a top 5 pick and one injury could wash that all away. This season is already going to be a cluster, so I would probably tell my son to do the same. 15-20 million dollars compared to risking a career ending injury and not even get drafted. This simply confirms that college football is a business and has very little to do with college - especially for the extremely talented!
