re: Report: LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase opting out of season

I completely understand his decision. But I don’t think there is “no risk” by doing so.
1. He’s going to give other WR’s a chance to pass him in the pecking order. In fact, there may be some other guys who get an even bigger bump up the boards simply because the focus is so narrow with relatively few teams playing.
2. There may be some who will say his greatness was largely because of Burrow. He is forgoing a chance to erase that perception.
3. He’s likely not going to grade out as a physically elite prospect. He’s not exceptionally tall or an elite speed guy. His greatness is evidenced by his play. But if scouts tie that greatness more to Burrow than on his own, he could drop.
Again, there is merit in his decision to skip the season. But it’s not as much of a no brainer as some might think

No but they met a couple. There are thugs everywhere.
That happened while those guys still played for LSU.....sooooo....still the logic makes absolutely no sense

Then being a LSU athlete doesn't exempt you from "running with thugs" so that makes his attempted point even stupider.

if it comes out that this is related to the current political climate...
I am done
I am done

Oh really????? What would YOU DO????? IF you had half the talent of him. Again just another SELFISH LSU fan that doesn’t care about the player..... only what said player can bring to the WIN total.
His decision isn't what is selfish DUMBASS. His decision to wait SO LATE is what IS selfish.

He would have put it in cruise control, being more careful to avoid injury rather than fight for a catch or more yards. So I think it's for the best. You're right, I'd rather watch one of the other receivers just do what they normally do rather than be so focused on their NFL career right around the corner.
I'd rather watch a freshman, who is just as talented, perform than a player playing for the next draft.

he'll lose Tiger fan respect.
Ha ha - the small mindedness of this board of people who make 5 or 6 figures. The top 5 could mean $30 million guaranteed. If this is what he thinks is best for him, congratulations!
Best WR season ever on the greatest team ever. He will always have true Tiger fans respect and appreciation. Thanks for everything!

I don’t see why not, the three year rule is dumb. It protects those in a physical sport like football but hinders those that would be immediate impacts like Stingley. I don’t think it should go the college basketball route but maybe two years in college is fair. I will personally say I hate it for college ball but completely understand it for these young men that dream of the NFL.

His timing for the decision blows - and though I hope it’s not true, stinks of RC’s influence.
Think of all the energy spent “leading” the WR’s, reps w/Brennan, etc. for this Fall?

I want to be mad at him but I can't, this is just small fraction of his future and an injury could cost him millions of dollars.

He will go 19 months between playing a real football game. Pathetic decision
Yeah I don't understand how not playing his supposed to help you prepare for the draft.

Just spit ballin here but a decent compromise could be to create or tweak the current supplemental draft that teams could select under classman a year earlier than their eligibility and allow the player to choose to stay or go. First round only tho so each team only gets 1 pick to do this.
You’d have to make the pick cost something hefty to make sure teams only used it on the rare Stingley/chase type situations.

Just because he was on last year's team and played the role he played, doesn't mean you need to be fake and lick his arse and be ok with this. Piss poor timing on his part. Great kid, great talent, on the best LSU team ever, yet made a selfish decision that is justifiably up for debate.
It's ok to question these kids when they make decisions.

It’s also ok to be ok with a kid making a decision that he feels is best for his and his families futures
You wanting him to stick around so you can enjoy him on LSUs team is just as selfish as him wanting to not risk injury before life changing money. Pot and the kettle and all that jazz

I don’t blame him one bit. Just look at all the Covid drama and the way that many around BR lambasted the players for standing up for what they believed. Also, O’s comments on Trump didn’t help things either.
Screw anyone that thinks he should have to denounce the President of the US.
