Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double during the 1961-62 NBA season. More recently, Russell Westbrook had four consecutive triple-double seasons between 2017 and 2021. It was points, rebounds and assists for both.

Is the difficulty of getting a double double for women the equivalent of a triple double for men?

One thing no one has mentioned is that a WNBA game is shorter than an NBA game. They have four 10 minutes quarters as opposed to 12. So the men’s game has almost a full quarter of game time (8 minutes) more than women.

Double Double is it really that impressive especially with Reese? Not trying to knock her skill level but she is pretty much a inside player. She shoots around the basket misses gets her on rebound and then scores do this a few times and BOOM !! Double Double. Hell we watched her in college and that's pretty much what she did every game.

Responses like this crack me up. You took the time to open the thread. You took the time to type that out.

If you don’t care about women’s basketball, why bother?
To be fair, he had to do something while waiting for his mom to bring him meatloaf down to the basement.

only 20% of her rebounds come from her own misses

How do you average a double double?

Take your season average in 2 categories. It’s pretty simple. Ex total points scored / total games played.

Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for the entire season.

What ?

Yes, it's impressive, and I don't like or watch women's basketball much. I did flip this on a few minutes to see how the Olympic team looked.

It's not the numbers or the average, it's that she does this so consistently, without off-games.

Sounds easy enough, why don't more players do that?

That's why she was an All American

Instead of getting rebounds off his own misses though, Russell Westbrook had his teammates “stand down” for garbage rebounds. I’m not sure which one is more impressive.

There are multiple 6’1-6’4 point guards the last few years who have averaged 8-11 rebounds a game. It’s not nearly as impressive as it used to be.

I remember Jason Kidd was the best rebounding PG in the game for a bit, but he actually got rebounds. His teammates didn’t get out of the way for every trash rebound.

Math is hard.

One game I get 10 points and 9 rebounds. The other game I get 10 points and 11 rebounds.

What’s my averages? 10 pts and 10 rebounds. A double double.

I love what I am being. When did asking a legitimate question define a person?

Common, this type of comment gets to be old, repeated over and over. Y'all have Angel messing with your heads. So when is getting your own rebound and scoring a negative? Do you see many college or WNBA players rebound this consistently every game every year? Do you want her to stand around and do nothing like the other players? Without Angel's rebounding and double-doubles, LSU would not have won the Nat'l Championship.
If I was Angel's coach, I would congratulate her every game, and tell her to keep up the good work, because without those Off rebounds they wouldn't score. Rebounding is hard work, dirty work, surrounded by 3-4 around the rim beating up on you. No one wants to do it, except Angel, who wants to be the best rebounder in the game.
