As a sports stats guy, I was putting some of these together anyway, so thought I would share. This is a work in progress, I'm still digging for other possible records and validating some others that I believe are in play. If you know of any that aren't listed, please post and I'll add them as I see/verify them. One note: numbers are based on what is needed to tie the current record unless noted otherwise. For what is needed to break it, just add 1.

Team

NCAA Most Points Scored in a Season
Current record: 723, Florida St, 2013
LSU: 684 (needs 39 pts)

NCAA Most Victories in a Season
Current record: 15, Clemson, 2018
LSU: Win in NCG would tie and also end Clemson's win streak

Most points scored in the CFP Championship
Current record: 45, Alabama, 2016
LSU: Averaging 48.86 ppg

Total Offense in the CFP Championship
Current record: 550, Clemson, 2016
LSU: Averaging 564.1 ypg

Joe Burrow

LSU Career TOTAL yards
Current record: 8,938 yds, Tommy Hodson
Joe: 8,828 yds (needs 110 yds)
Note: Not including Joe's stats at OSU as this is an LSU specific record.

NCAA Single Season Pass Completion Percentage
Current record: 76.7%, Colt McCoy, Texas
Joe: 77.6% (needs to complete 27 of 40 or better)
Note: See mdomingue's post below for additional completion/attempt numbers to break 76.7% (thanks, mdomingue)

NCAA Single Season Passing Efficiency Rating
Current record: 199.4, Tua Tagovailoa
Joe: 204.6
Note: Joe will likely finish 2nd. Tua's current efficiency rating is 206.9 and he is done, so this will likely be the new record. Still a question on how many games have to be played to qualify, but from what I've seen posted, Tua met the minimum.

NCAA Single Season record TOTAL yards
Current record: 5,976 yds, B.J. Symmons, Texas Tech
Joe: 5,535 yds (needs 441 yds)

NCAA Single Season Passing Yards
Current record: 5,833 yds, B.J. Symons, Texas Tech
Joe: 5,208 yds (needs 625 yds. Possible, but not likely)

NCAA Single Season Passing TDs
Current record: 58, Colt Brennan, Hawaii
Joe: 55 (Needs 3)

NCAA Single Season TOTAL TDs
Current record: 63, Colt Brennan, Hawaii
Joe: 59 (Needs 4)

NCAA Single Season Points Responsible For
Current record: 384, Colt Brennan, Hawaii
Joe: 354 (Needs 30 pts)

SEC Single Season Completions
Current record: 400, Tim Couch
Joe: 371 (needs 29)

SEC Single Season Total Offense/Game
Current record: 393.5 yds/game, Johnny Manzeil
Joe: Currently leads at 394.2 yds/game through 14 games (needs 384 total yards to maintain that through 15 games)

LSU Single Game Passing Yards
Current record: 528 yds, Rohan Davey
Joe: Career high is 493 in 3 quarters. It's possible

LSU QB-Receiver TD Combinations
Old record: 23, JaMarcus Russell to Dwayne Bowe
New Record: 24, Joe to Justin Jefferson (set last week)
Joe to JaMarr Chase: 21 (3 behind Jefferson, 2 to move into tie with Russell/Bowe for #2)

2019 NCAA Passing Yards Leader
Current: 5,579 yds, Anthony Gordon, Washington St (season over)
Joe: 5,208 yds (needs 371 yds)

Passing yards in the CFP Championship
Current record: 420 yds, DeShaun Watson, Clemson, 2017
Joe: Threw for 493 yds in less than 3 quarters last week

Justin Jefferson

LSU Career Receiving TDs
Current record: 26, Dwayne Bowe
JJ: 24 (needs 2)

LSU Career Receptions
Current record: 183 catches, Wendell Davis
JJ: 156 catches (needs 17)

LSU Consecutive Games with Receiving TD
Current record: 7, Jarvis Landry, Dwayne Bowe
JJ: Can't set the record, but can tie Michael Clayton at 6 games in a row. Would be only the 4th player in LSU history with 6 or more.

JJ: 18 (needs 1 to set new record)

JaMarr Chase

Chase needs 5 receptions to move to #3 on the LSU single season receptions list ahead of Michael Clayton (80)

2019 Leader in Receiving Yards
Current: 1,653 yds, Omar Bayless, Arkansas St
Chase: 1,559 yds (needs 94 yds)

SEC Single Season Receiving TDs
Current record: 18, JJ, Chase and Reidel Anthony
Chase: 18 (needs 1 to set new record)

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Current record: 50 catches, Garry James, 1985
Clyde: 50 catches (Tied, needs 1 to set record)

Derek Stingley

LSU Single Season INTs
Current record: 8, Craig Burns and Chris Williams
Stingley: 6 (needs 2)

SEC Single Season Passes Defended
Current record: 22, DeMarcus Milliner, Alabama
Stingley: 15
Note: Stingley is currently tied with 3 other players for second place. Needs just 1 to be alone at #2.

For the total TD's, Burreaux will have had an additional 2 games vs what Colt Brennan had. They should be noted "in the CFP era" or something.

Either way, I'm still amazed that we are ballin' the way we are. So exciting

ETA: Damn good job on assembling these stats btw.

Yea we can call it even given that Colt Brennan did that in the WAC.

These stats + the schedule we have played are unbelievable.

Thanks. And, yes, LSU gets the benefit of playing an extra game on a number of these.

And, on the other hand, the completion % record by McCoy was set in 13 games - and not against playoff opponents.

Joe was well ahead of McCoy at 13 games.

And Justin Jefferson is the new leader for receptions in a season with 103.

Additionally:

A touchdown reception by either Jefferson or Chase will set a new SEC record of 19 in a season. Both are currently tied with Reidell Anthony of UF with 18 in a season.

True but Joe could have cleared majority of those records by the end of the a&m game and maybe even Arky! These numbers and records will be as true and legit as any. One just have to have watched the games or know how they were closed out.

Burrow might have had two extra games, but look at the teams Burrow has faced this year vs what Brennan faced that year.

Just win. I don’t care if it’s 3-0 with four picks.

Excellent post ffishstik!

I posted the following Cheat sheet for people who would like have an idea during the game of where Joe is relative to the competion percentage record,

quote:

Here is what Joe needs to keep the single season completion record, which is 76.67% by Colt McCoy. I calculated it for him throwing anywhere between his high and low attempts while at LSU.

11/20 - 55.00 % game - 76.71 % season
12/21 - 57.14 % game - 76.75 % season
13/22 - 59.09 % game - 76.80 % season
14/23 - 60.87 % game - 76.85 % season
14/24 - 58.33 % game - 76.69 % season
15/25 - 60.00 % game - 76.74 % season
16/26 - 61.54 % game - 76.79 % season
17/27 - 62.96 % game - 76.83 % season
18/28 - 64.29 % game - 76.88 % season
18/29 - 62.07 % game - 76.73 % season
19/30 - 63.33 % game - 76.77 % season
20/31 - 64.52 % game - 76.82 % season
21/32 - 65.63 % game - 76.86 % season
21/33 - 63.64 % game - 76.71 % season
22/34 - 64.71 % game - 76.76 % season
23/35 - 65.71 % game - 76.80 % season
24/36 - 66.67 % game - 76.85 % season
24/37 - 64.86 % game - 76.70 % season
25/38 - 65.79 % game - 76.74 % season
26/39 - 66.67 % game - 76.79 % season
27/40 - 67.50 % game - 76.83 % season
27/41 - 65.85 % game - 76.69 % season
28/42 - 66.67 % game - 76.73 % season

I saw colt brennan in the sugar bowl vs Georgia. The dawgs destroyed him and Hawaii. It was over when it started. Dude was throwing the ball in the air just to not get sacked. Some records are shams. Joe’s are legit.

I disagree. Brennan did it with a WAC supporting cast. Talent level makes little difference to a QB unless as long as it's even across the line of scrimmage.

The system is the big differentiator. Burrow could not have done this in last year's LSU system, and neither could Colt Brennan.

This is insane. 4 year by an LSU great vs 2 years for Joe. It really blows my mind. I don’t care what era Hodson player in.

I did not think this was accurate because Hodson's career passing alone is 9115 yds... but his career rushing was -177 yds! Wow
